First of its kind in the Middle East

- By Faten Omar

‘Kafa’a’, a first-of-its-kind initiative in Kuwait, held a press conference on Saturday at Al-Shaheed Park to speak about its activities. “Kafa’a is about promoting an ethical culture within the society, shedding light on a new generation of thinkers and spreading their innovations throughout the world,” said Nasser Al-Massaied, founder of Kafa’a.

He affirmed that Kafa’a aims to list the story of talented people and their creativity in all fields. Kafa’a, which means ‘reward,’ is the first initiative of its kind in the Middle East working within the framework of human development by honoring genuine creators of moral superiority in their scientific and functional specialties or even within their communities.

Massaied revealed various activities that will be held during the year and the holy month of Ramadan, including a grand celebration will be held at Sheikh Jaber Al-Ahmad Cultural Center. “We are working to establish a global commercial footprint for the country, and tell the story about the people of Kuwait and its creations and innovations in all fields, highlighting the distinguished and readying a new generation of Kuwaiti intellectuals through the development of human and moral culture inside and outside Kuwait,” he explained.

Ambassador of Japan Takashi Ashiki said that the embassy will cooperate with Kafa’a by providing the judging committee for the competitions. “We are willing to support the initiative for the better future of Kuwait. We believe that students should not only be educated, but also learn ethics, tell the truth and know about values to build the country,” he said. “This kind of learning will develop their ideas towards a better life, relationship and work environment.” Ashiki added.

At the end of the event, Kafa’a announced the participants of the ‘Our Father Deserves’ competition. The competition is about children recording videos explaining why their fathers are important. During the holy month of Ramadan, the initiative will hold three events. It will provide food for the poor and create social cohesion among members of the society to become acquainted with each other. Kafa’a aims to distinguish between joy and happiness - joy is temporary, but happiness is permanent, and this is what they want to achieve among the members of society.
