Zain, Kuwait Dive Team inaugurate ‘Zain Boat’

Zain, the leading telecommunications company in Kuwait, announced the inauguration of ‘Zain Boat,’ which the company dedicated to the Kuwait Dive Team as part of their strategic partnership. The dedication of this boat comes with the aim of preserving Kuwait’s marine life.

The brand new boat was inaugurated in Ras Al-Ard Club in Salmiya with the presence of Zain Kuwait’s Corporate Communications and Relations Director Waleed Al-Khashti and Chairman of the Environmental Voluntary Foundation Waleed Al-Fadhel, as well as members of the Kuwait Dive Team and Zain’s officials.

Zain dedicated the new boat to the Kuwait Dive Team, which will be utilized to carry out marine preservation projects throughout the upcoming years. The boat is fully equipped with the latest state of the art equipment, and will be used for removing wrecked ships and boats from the bottom of the ocean, removing abandoned fishing nets, installing and maintaining environment-friendly anchors, monitoring coral reefs, cleaning shores, islands, and beaches, documenting marine life, and more.

Recently, a team of Zain employees and their families participated in a beach cleanup initiative at Shuwaikh beach. The event came in collaboration with the Kuwait Dive Team and aimed at preserving the Kuwaiti marine life. The company was keen on shouldering initiatives that contribute to preserving the Kuwaiti marine life, which is considered one of the main pillars of the valued Kuwaiti heritage. Zain’s support to the Kuwait Dive Team throughout the past 14 years comes under its Corporate Sustainability and Social Responsibility strategy towards the environmental sector. The company’s sustainable goals closely focus on preserving the Kuwaiti environment, especially Kuwait’s marine life, and seeks to raise awareness of protecting it within the community.

During October 2016, the Kuwait Dive Team honored Zain in the occasion of completing 800 marine preservation missions using a boat the company dedicated to the team back in 2003. Today, the newly dedicated boat from Zain is much more advanced, and features state of the art equipment that will ensure easy and fast marine preservation missions throughout the upcoming years.

As part of its numerous environmental contributions, Zain recently sponsored the ‘Kayak 4 Kuwait’ expedition, which aimed at raising awareness about the importance of preserving marine life in the Arabian Gulf. The expedition, considered the first of its kind, featured Kuwaiti travelers Bashar Al Huneidi and Mansoor Al-Safran kayaking from Kuwait across the GCC countries and reached Oman throughout 90 days, crossing over 2,000 kilometers. The company also partnered with the Environment Public Authority (EPA) to distribute awareness messages about the new environmental laws aimed at preserving a green and clean environment in the country.
