Court orders KU to upgrade student’s GPA

The administrative court passed a historic verdict mandating Kuwait University’s faculty of law to change a student’s GPA from A- to A. Meanwhile, the criminal court yesterday sentenced a Ministry of Electricity and Water (MEW) director and a supervisor to seven years in prison and dismissal, sentenced another sector manager and supervisor to three years in prison and dismissal from his positions, fined other suspects and acquitted 16 other employees who had all been detained over charges of embezzling MEW funds.

Lawyer’s detention

Commenting on the recent detention of lawyer Meshaal Saad Al-Khannah over charges of slandering a member of the judiciary, Kuwait Lawyers Society (KLS) Chairman Nasser Humoud Al-Kraiween stressed that KLS will continue defending lawyers’ constitutional and legal rights. Kraiween added that KLS had addressed all relevant authorities and that it was high time to clear things up and protect lawyers’ dignity.

Food safety

The Municipal Council’s Deputy Chairman Meshaal Al-Jowaisri criticized allowing the entry of 26 tons of pumpkin, that were later proved to be inedible and deformed, into the country without examining them. Jowaisri also warned about products arriving from a neighboring country, calling for examining them prior to allowing their sale in local markets.

Road project

The Ministry of Public Works (MPW) assistant undersecretary for roads engineering Ahmad Al-Hassan announced that Jamal Abdul Nasser Street development project’s leg between the Ministry of Health (MoH) and the UN Roundabout will open on May 26.
