Man mugs borrower after she failed to pay him back

An Iraqi man was arrested for assaulting and robbing a female citizen’s purse and money, said security sources. According to the suspect, he had known the woman and lent her KD 500, but when it took her too long to give him the money back, he seized the opportunit­y of knowing that her purse was full of money and snatched it. He also assaulted her when she tried resisting him. A case was filed.

Blackmail

A citizen was arrested for threatenin­g and blackmaili­ng a female citizen through phone calls he made from a friend’s mobile phone, after claiming that his phone battery was dead, said security sources. The case started when a citizen was summoned to a police station to face charges of calling and threatenin­g a woman. The man strongly denied the charges, and after inquiring about the calls’ timing, he recalled that a friend had asked to use his phone on that date. The friend was summoned and confessed to making the calls.

Smuggling foiled

A citizen was arrested on arrival at the Nuwaiseeb land border exit with four joints of hashish, said security sources.

Thieves at large

Responding to a social media video showing masked robbers waving to security cameras outside a citizen’s diwaniya, police detectives managed to determine the suspects’ vehicle license plate number and a search is on for them.

Fugitives arrested

Three citizens (a woman and two men including one already wanted for a criminal case) and an Egyptian woman were arrested under the effect of drugs in a vehicle in Hawally. A citizen wanted for nine robberies and a threeyear prison sentence was arrested in Jahra and referred to relevant authoritie­s.

Kidnapper sentenced

A bedoon was sentenced to 10 years in prison for kidnapping an Asian woman and taking her to a desert area in Kabd to rob her possession­s.
