Cabinet holds weekly meeting

The Kuwaiti cabinet held its customary weekly meeting at Bayan Palace yesterday under chairmansh­ip of His Highness the Prime Minister Sheikh Jaber Al-Mubarak Al-Hamad Al-Sabah. At the onset of the meeting, the ministers congratula­ted His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah and His Highness the Crown Prince Sheikh Nawaf Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah on the occasion of the approachin­g holy month of Ramadan. Then, First Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sheikh Sabah Al-Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabah briefed his colleague on the outcomes of His Highness the Amir’s participat­ion in the seventh Consultati­ve Meeting of the GCC leaders and the Gulf-US summit and ArabIslami­c-US summit held in Riyadh between May 20 and 21. The Riyadh gatherings focused on a host of regional and internatio­nal issues and efforts to maintain security and stability in the region, as well as coexistenc­e and tolerance among different world countries.

The cabinet was also apprised on the results of talks held between His Highness the Amir and US President Donald Trump on ways of promoting and developing cooperativ­e relations between both friendly countries in all fields, along with an invitation by His Highness the Amir to the US president to visit the State of Kuwait. The First Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister thanked Saudi Arabia for warm welcome, hospitaili­ty and proper arrangemen­ts for the successful gatherings held in Riyadh. Finally, the cabinet congratula­ted the newly reelected Iranian president Hassan Rouhani, hoping that he would seek to promote regional peace, stability and developmen­t.—KUNA
