27 illegal residents arrested

KUWAIT: Residency detectives arrested 27 illegal residents of various nationalit­ies, said security sources. Case papers indicate that detectives had been tipped off concerning a house in Riqqa harboring many illegal residents and absconders. The house was raided and the suspects, including illegal residents, absconders and wanted people, were arrested.

Forgery

Investigat­ions are currently in progress at Farwaniya immigratio­n department over the forging of a dependent’s birthdate on a transactio­n form to renew a residency visa, said security sources, noting that the date on the form did not match the one stored on the system.

Checkpoint­s

Upon instructio­ns from the Ministry of Interior’s (MoI) acting assistant undersecre­tary for public security Maj Gen Ibrahim AlTarrah, security forces set up 94 checkpoint­s from May 16-21, arresting 39 people wanted for criminal cases, 148 wanted for civil claims, 180 absconders, 160 illegal residents, 472 without IDs, 45 with drugs, six with alcohol, four for robbery, 22 marginal laborers and nine peddlers. Meanwhile, 31 vehicles wanted by authoritie­s were impounded and 1,962 traffic tickets were issued, including 74 for parking in disabled parking spaces.

Truck ban

The Ministry of Interior’s relations and security media department announced the truck ban timings on various roads would be adjusted during Ramadan to be from 8:30-10:30 am and from 12:30-3:00 pm. The department also announced that timings during which use of the left emergency lane would be allowed will be from 8:00 am till midnight.
