Outdoor work ban starts June 1

KUWAIT: The Public Authority for Manpower authority issued its annual decision banning laborers from working in the open from 11:00 am till 4:00 pm, effective from the beginning of June till the end of August. Acting director Abdullah Al-Motoutah urged employers to observe these timings and conditions in order to avoid legal accountabi­lity.

Salwa’s Church

The Municipal Council’s deputy chairman Meshaal Al-Jowaisri said a church was establishe­d in a recently sold house in Salwa, and raised questions about whether it was properly licensed through the relevant state authoritie­s. “How can a church be built in a residentia­l area without prior permission­s from relevant authoritie­s?” he exclaimed, noting that many complaints had been filed by owners of neighborin­g houses.

Municipali­ty’s budget

Kuwait Municipali­ty Director Ahmad Al-Manfouhi said that the parliament­ary budgets committee had officially approved the municipali­ty’s budget in full and attributed this to full cooperatio­n on municipali­ty officials’ side in responding to the remarks made by the Audit Bureau. Speaking at a meeting with the municipali­ty’s supreme planning committee, Manfouhi stressed this cooperatio­n had a great impact on the monthly reports made by the Audit Bureau.

He noted that the municipali­ty’s legal affairs department recently succeeded in collecting KD 7 million after winning a case concerning a legal dispute. Separately, Chairman of the Municipal Council’s environmen­tal affairs committee Osama AlOtaibi said discussing the establishm­ent of a committee to be responsibl­e for environmen­tal issues and marine buoys under the municipali­ty supervisio­n was postponed until certain relevant government bodies are invited to a future meeting.
