Inspectors foil bid to smuggle 91,000 pills

KUWAIT: Air cargo custom inspectors foiled a Syrian man’s attempt to smuggle 91,000 illicit pills hidden in string lights imported from Lebanon to Kuwait, said security sources. Case papers indicate that custom inspectors suspected a parcel arriving from Lebanon and on checking it, the pills were found. Inspectors repacked the parcel and waited for the recipient to pick it up. He was arrested on collecting it.

Family wanted for forgery

An Egyptian mother and her son were arrested while the husband escaped arrest when detectives raided their apartment in Jabriya to arrest them over fraud charges, said security sources. The sources explained that a number of citizens and expats had reported being swindled by the family, as the mother claimed to be a PhD holder working for an Arab organizati­on with many connection­s. The suspects used this claim to take thousands of dinars from their victims to finalize unfinished transactio­ns. However, detectives found that the family members were in violation of residency laws. On raiding the house, the son and husband resisted them, before the father jumped from the first floor window and fled the scene. A case was filed and a search is on for the husband.

Rape

A girl told Mubarak Al-Kabeer police station officers that someone she did not know abducted her and took her to an apartment, where he raped her before letting her go, said security sources. A case was filed for investigat­ions to verify the girl’s claims then identify and arrest the suspect.

Cop faces charges

The Interior Ministry’s cybercrime­s department is currently examining a video that was recently posted on social media networks showing a policeman in uniform with a half-naked drunk woman, to identify him and hold him legally accountabl­e.

Theft

A Pakistani man accused an Egyptian national he knows of withdrawin­g KD 6,000 from his bank account over eight months and denying it. The man explained that he had left his ATM card with the suspect, and after finding out about the missing money, he confronted him, but he denied everything and refused to give back the card. A case was filed and the suspect is being summoned.

Jewelry stolen

An Arab woman lodged a complaint with Fintas police accusing her husband of stealing her gold jewelry. A case was filed and the husband is being summoned for further investigat­ions. — Translated from the Arabic press
