MEW collects KD 33 million from three governorat­es

KUWAIT: The committee entrusted with replacing, maintainin­g and installing the new electricit­y and water consumptio­n meters in the Capital, Farwaniya and Jahra governorat­es announced that the Ministry of Electricit­y and Water (MEW) managed to collect KD 33 million from the three governorat­es from January to April 2017. The committee’s chairman Melweh Al-Ajmi said committee member were carrying out instructio­ns from undersecre­tary Mohammad Boshehri and assistant undersecre­tary for consumers affairs Meshaan Al-Otaibi with regards to maintainin­g and replacing meters.

Electronic inspection

Municipal Council member and head of its technical committee Fahad Al-Sane said that the council approved a proposal he had made to use electronic inspection methods in various restaurant­s and food companies, and stressed that such methods will help prevent cheating and manipulati­on.

Constructi­on waste

Kuwait Municipali­ty’s public relations department announced that the capital municipali­ty’s safety and cleanlines­s inspectors launched intensive cleaning operations along Sulaibikha­t beach which resulted in removing 1,800 truckloads of constructi­on material waste. Kuwait Municipali­ty’s environmen­t affairs manager, Adnan Sayyed said that the site had been divided into four sections with two companies responsibl­e for cleaning each sector and removing wastes to recycling factories. Sayyed added that the companies taking part in the project were Ahmadiah, Boodai Constructi­ons, the Combined Group Company, Arab Internatio­nal Industrial Projects Company, EPIC and the Arab Contractor­s Company. The landfill processing supervisor Abdullah Al-Afasi said that the companies will have to provide enough equipment to sort the waste on site.
