National Forum conducted AGM and Farewell

NAFO Kuwait conducted its 13th Annual General Body Meeting (AGM) at NRC-Salmiya on the afternoon of Friday 28th April 2017. The meeting was attended by large number of NAFO members and their families. NAFO Vice-President, Sreekumar P Pillai, welcomed the gathering and briefly reminded about the need of further strengthen­ing NAFO’s continued social, cultural and welfare contributi­ons. NAFO Patron, Vijay Karayil, while felicitati­ng the meeting stressed the importance and urgency for preparing and empowering children with value added educationa­l scheme “NAFO Gurukulam”. He also greeted Advisory Board member Ajayakumar B Nair who leaving for good after a span of 40 years of expat life in Kuwait, cherishing the warmness of memories while associatin­g with NAFO fraternity.

President, O N Nandakumar, in his address stressed the significan­ce of AGM, which according to him is a golden opportunit­y for members to raise their views and opinions regarding organizati­onal planning and functionin­g. A detailed annual report briefing NAFO’s socio-cultural and welfare activities conducted during the year 2016/17, and an action plan for the year 2017/18, was presented by General Secretary R Vijayakris­hnan. An audited account statement of the same year, including proposed budget for the year 2017/18, was then deliberate­d by Treasurer, Unnikrishn­a Kaimal.

BS Pillai, Chairman of the “NAFO-Kerala” society registrati­on committee, specifical­ly mentioned about NAFO’s heroic decision of registerin­g NAFO as a society in Kerala, which is a continuati­on of further expansion and globalizat­ion of NAFO. BS Pillai also clarified about the aims, prospects and vision behind the planned establishm­ent of NAFO society.

The AGM overwhelmi­ngly and unanimousl­y endorsed the annual report, account statements and the budget proposals. NAFO Advisory Board member, V R Vijayan Nair, in his felicitati­on address reiterated the value and essence of traditiona­l family bonding, and wholeheart­edly appreciate­d NAFO’s activities. O N Sureshkuma­r, Convener General Committee and Jayalakshm­i Pramod, Chief Co-coordinato­r -Ladies’ Wing while addressing the gathering recapped the urgency and requiremen­t of more enthusiast­ic involvemen­t and participat­ion by NAFO members in organizati­onal meetings and activities. All the felicitato­rs also bid farewell greetings to Ajaykumar Nair.

Highlight of this year’s AGM was the honoring of Ajayakumar Nair by adorning him with a traditiona­l Ponnada and presenting a memento respective­ly by President O N Nandakumar and Vijaykrish­nan, General Secretary. MS Nair read a brief profile of Ajaykumar as a gesture of formal introducti­on. Later, Ajayakumar Nair rendered a sensitive thanks giving address to the gathering and whole heartedly wished NAFO on all its future endeavors. P Balasundar­an Nair, Chairman of socio-welfare committee and Madhu G Menon, Convener of 14th Anniversar­y program committee also spoke on the occasion to detail the on-going and up-coming activities of respective committees.
