Three-car fire extinguish­ed

Firemen put out fires in three cars in Jaber Al-Ali. Qurain fire center responded to a call about the fire and contained the flames to keep them from spreading. No injuries were reported.

Smugglers arrested

Two Arabs were arrested for attempting to smuggle 12,000 Tramadol, while another Arab man was caught with one kilogram of ‘chemical’ (‘Spice’ with added chemicals) and 50 grams of shabu (methamphet­amine). Drugs Control General Department received tips about the suspects bringing in drugs hidden in their vests, so the two were put under surveillan­ce then arrested in Fahaheel. The third suspect was arrested in his house where the drugs were found.

Inedible food

Kuwait Municipali­ty’s Public Relations Department said Jahra Services Department destroyed 10 tons of food stuff that were not fit for human consumptio­n. In addition, 324 stores were inspected and 535 signs were removed from streets and yards, 251 citations were issued, 288 samples were sent to labs, and 1,887 cooled vegetables trucks were checked. Meanwhile, the department said its media campaign continues aiming at the safety of foodstuff. Head of the emergency team Riyadh Al-Rabee said the campaign resulted in the destructio­n of 18 tons of various food items.
