Jabri leads Kuwait’s delegation to FAO conference

Minister of Awqaf, Islamic Affairs and Municipal Affairs Mohammad Al-Jabri is leading the Kuwaiti delegation to the 40th Session of the Food and Agricultur­al Organizati­on (FAO) Conference, Rome. The conference that started yesterday focuses on the internatio­nal strategy and efforts for sustainabl­e developmen­t, as well as eradicatio­n of hunger. The delegation includes Kuwait’s Ambassador to Italy Sheikh Ali AlKhaled, Director General and Chairman of the Public Authority for Agricultur­e Affairs and Fish Resources (PAAFR) Engineer Faisal Al-Hasawi, and the Kuwaiti Permanent Delegate to FAO, Engineer Yousef Jehail. Minister Jabri will address the session.

The minister will take part today in an internatio­nal ministeria­l conference on the rarity of water in the Near East and North African Region, to review Kuwait’s efforts to counter the colossal challenge. Kuwait’s participat­ion in the FAO conference is part of the country’s active role and contributi­on to drawing up the field and regional policies to enhance food security on the national and internatio­nal scenes.

On the sidelines of the opening session today, Jabri and Pakistan’s Minister of National Food Security and Research Sikandar Hayat discussed bilateral relations and cooperatio­n. The two sides stressed the significan­ce of exchanging expertise, as well as boosting coordinati­on on the internatio­nal scene. — KUNA
