Kuwait Dive Team removes 5 boats from Kuwait waters
Kuwait Dive Team, affiliated with the Environmental Voluntary Foundation, lifted five sunken boats weighted 19 tons from Kuwait waters aimed to protect marine life and navigation. The boats were lifted from Khiran seaside, Ras Al-Salmiya, Al-Shamlan Bay, and Al-Shaab Al-Bahri club, team leader Waleed Al-Fadhel said yesterday. He added that removing waste and sunken boats are part of the team’s efforts to protect marine life from harmful and dangerous remnants, which may cause accidents of passing fishing and cruising boats.
He affirmed this voluntary team works with General Directorate of Coast Guard, Maritime Rescue Center, General Directorate of Firefighting, Kuwait Ports’ Corporation and other government administrations. Fadhel called on owners of fishing boats and yachts to take all precautionary measures while sailing to protect the country’s marine environment and properties. —KUNA
