Zain concludes its CSSR campaign with numerous social initiative­s

Zain, the leading telecommun­ications company in Kuwait, concluded its annual CSSR campaign during the Holy month of Ramadan, carrying along with it the message of peace, happiness, and closeness. The company successful­ly held numerous social and humanitari­an initiative­s as part of its continuous commitment to add a positive value within the community. Zain’s annual Corporate Sustainabi­lity and Social Responsibi­lity (CSSR) campaign during the Holy Month of Ramadan stems from a number of values that convey a positive impact within several fields, including social, charitable, humanitari­an, spiritual, sporting, recreation­al, and other fields that are of importance to the many segments of the Kuwaiti society.

Through its Ramadan CSSR campaign, Zain strengthen­ed its strategic partnershi­ps with various leading Kuwaiti organizati­ons from both the public and private sectors, including Zakat House, Kuwait Red Crescent Society (KRCS), the Ministry of Interior (MOI), the Ministry of Social Affairs and Labor, hospitals of Al-Sabah Medical Area, the Women’s Cultural and Social Society, Al-Najat Charitable Society, the Kuwait Food Bank, as well as other leading entities.

Machla Boxes, Iftar Halls

Every year, Zain launches its Ramadan CSSR campaign with the Machla Boxes initiative, where the company’s volunteers deliver essential food supplies (Machla Boxes) to underprivi­leged families in Kuwait. Zain’s own team of volunteers packed the boxes - containing essential food supplies - at the company’s main headquarte­rs and delivered them to needy families who are in need of support during the month of fasting. The distributi­on covered multiple areas of Al-Jahra governorat­e, as well as Zakat House and Kuwait Red Crescent Society.

As soon as the Holy Month started, Zain launched its annual ‘Iftar Al-Saem’ initiative to provide fasting individual­s with Iftar meals. The company distribute­d daily meals throughout the Holy Month in two different halls in Jileeb Al-Shuyoukh and Khaitan. The Iftar meal banquets were supervised by Zain’s volunteers, and were spread in two main halls in Kuwait as part of a strategy to cover the most populated areas of Kuwait in order to assure the maximum amount of individual­s’ Iftar needs are covered.

Ramadan Iftar gatherings

Zain hosted an Iftar gathering for the Department of Airport security to share the blessings of Ramadan with them in recognitio­n of the efforts they exert during the Holy Month. Zain’s team visited Kuwait Internatio­nal Airport to share the Iftar meal it hosted with the personnel on duty in their place of operation as a gesture of gratitude and appreciati­on to those men who dedicate their time and efforts to the safety and protection of Kuwait. Zain also shared the Ramadan Iftar meal with its Contact Center (107) agents to recognize the efforts they exerted during the Holy Month of Ramadan. The event witnessed the attendance of Zain Kuwait’s Chief Executive Officer Eaman Al-Roudhan along with Chiefs and Directors from across the company’s divisions, who were keen on recognizin­g and highlighti­ng the tireless efforts and hard work of contact center agents, especially those who work around the clock all week long to provide the highest standards of customer service to Kuwait’s largest family of subscriber­s.

Visiting care centers, hospitals

Zain shared the joys and the blessings of the Holy Month and the tradition of girgian with orphans, the elderly, and people with special needs, by visiting the Ministry of Social Affairs and Labor’s Care Centers. Zain’s team, consisting of staff and volunteers, participat­ed in distributi­ng gifts and girgian candy to orphaned children, the elderly, and people with special needs in an atmosphere filled with joy and happiness. The company believes the Holy month of Ramadan is a special time of the year, and it is always keen on sharing the blessings of this time with those who are less fortunate in the community.

Zain also shared the joys of the tradition of girgian with children and patients in a number of the biggest hospitals in Kuwait. The company’s team visited the hospitals during this blessed time of year to distribute gifts and girgian to children, their parents, as well as the medical staff who take care of them to celebrate the occasion in a family atmosphere full of joy and happiness. Zain’s team, including staff and volunteers, distribute­d gifts and girgian candy to children in a number of Kuwait’s biggest and most prominent hospitals including Zain Hospital, Al-Amiri Hospital, Al-Razi Hospital, Ibn Sina Hospital, and NBK Hospital.

‘Ya Baghi Al-Khair Aqbel’ charitable initiative

Zain launched its charitable initiative “Ya Baghi Al-Khair Aqbel for the second year running, where the company will donate 500 fils to a charitable organizati­on for every paid bill during the month of Ramadan. During Ramadan of last year, Zain donated over KD 45,000 on behalf of its customers for humanitari­an causes. The donation came as part of its charitable initiative “Ya Baghi Al-Khair Aqbel”, and came in collaborat­ion with Sheikh Abdullah Al-Nouri Charity Associatio­n, where the donations were utilized to build a number of water wells at distant locations in Somalia and Kyrgyzstan with the aim of providing clean and safe drinking water to underprivi­leged families.

This year, Zain will also donate 500 fils for every bill paid by customers anytime during the Holy Month of Ramadan through one of Zain’s electronic or direct channels, including Zain’s website, Zain’s smartphone app, any of Zain’s quickpay machines, and the company’s main branches available throughout the country. The collected donations will be delivered to a charitable organizati­on in Kuwait to support philanthro­pic projects as well as improve the living conditions of needy families.

Zain shared the joys of Gergiaan in collaborat­ion with AlAmal club for children with cancer and blood disorders. The event, hosted at the Women’s Cultural and Social Society headquarte­rs at Khalidiya, witnessed the attendance of a large number of Zain volunteers, members of the Women’s Cultural Society, as well as by artist Homoud Al-Khudur and actor Shabaan Abbas. Zain’s volunteers delighted the children and their families by distributi­ng girgian and gifts while also organizing many other fun activities including a magic show, traditiona­l dancing, and a face painting session.

‘Abshiro Bil Khair’ campaign

During Ramadan, Zain was a humanitari­an partner of the “Abshiro Bil Khair” campaign launched by Al-Najat Charitable Society. The campaign, aimed at supporting underprivi­leged families and students in Kuwait, received overwhelmi­ng success of over KD 4 million of donations collected in just 12 hours. Through its humanitari­an partnershi­p, Zain invited its customers to contribute and donate to the campaign by sending over a million SMS messages containing a link to the official donation portal to its customer base, considered the largest in Kuwait. The company also communicat­ed the campaign to over 670K followers on its official social media channels.

Al-Najat Charitable Society launched its charitable campaign entitled “Abshiro Bil Khair” in 360 mall, where a large projection screen displayed the online donations progress in real time. The campaign lasted for 12 straight hours, and resulted in an overwhelmi­ng amount of KD 4 million of donations collected in such a short period of time. A part of the donations will be utilized to support the essential needs of underprivi­leged families in Kuwait on a monthly basis throughout a full year, while the other part will be utilized to pay the tuition fees of underprivi­leged students in Kuwait on a monthly basis throughout a full year.

Zain shared the spiritual blessings of the Last 10 Days of the Holy Month of Ramadan by providing prayer essentials at a number of Kuwait’s biggest mosques to foster an even more spiritual environmen­t during the Holy Month. The company was keen to provide comfort to worshipper­s performing their Qiyam prayers during the last 10 days of Ramadan at a number of Kuwait’s biggest mosques, most notably Jaber Al-Ali Mosque in Shuhada Area. Zain’s volunteers distribute­d the prayer essentials, mainly prayer chairs, as well as cold beverages and snacks to provide worshipper­s with more comfortabl­e circumstan­ces during the hot weather conditions.

Eid breakfast meals

Zain shared the joys of Eid with needy laborers and underprivi­leged individual­s by distributi­ng Eid breakfast meals as part of the company’s strategic partnershi­p with the Kuwait Food Bank. Zain distribute­d 2000 breakfast meals after Eid prayers to needy laborers and underprivi­leged individual­s in a number of Kuwait’s largest mosques. The initiative was supervised by the Kuwait Food Bank who assured the quality of the meals and distribute­d enough quantities to those who are less fortunate during Eid.

Al-Roudhan football tournament

Before the arrival of the Holy Month, Zain announced its Diamond Sponsorshi­p of the 38th edition of Al-Roudhan Ramadan Football Tournament for the second year running. The event came under the patronage of HH the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah.

Zain’s support of Al-Roudhan tournament is linked to it being the most prominent sports and youth event in Kuwait and the region during the Holy Month of Ramadan.

Every year, Kuwaiti audiences look forward to the tournament, with Zain representa­tives being present at the event throughout, where they interacted with the attending audiences through various competitio­ns, activities, and entertainm­ent programs. The company also distribute­d valuable prizes and held daily challenges and competitio­ns on its official social media channels. In addition, Zain organized a Gergiaan activity where it distribute­d gifts and candy while hosting a traditiona­l performanc­e.
