Zain con­cludes its CSSR cam­paign with nu­mer­ous so­cial ini­tia­tives

Zain, the lead­ing telecom­mu­ni­ca­tions com­pany in Kuwait, con­cluded its an­nual CSSR cam­paign dur­ing the Holy month of Ra­madan, car­ry­ing along with it the mes­sage of peace, hap­pi­ness, and close­ness. The com­pany suc­cess­fully held nu­mer­ous so­cial and hu­man­i­tar­ian ini­tia­tives as part of its con­tin­u­ous com­mit­ment to add a pos­i­tive value within the com­mu­nity. Zain’s an­nual Cor­po­rate Sus­tain­abil­ity and So­cial Re­spon­si­bil­ity (CSSR) cam­paign dur­ing the Holy Month of Ra­madan stems from a num­ber of val­ues that con­vey a pos­i­tive im­pact within sev­eral fields, in­clud­ing so­cial, char­i­ta­ble, hu­man­i­tar­ian, spir­i­tual, sport­ing, recre­ational, and other fields that are of im­por­tance to the many seg­ments of the Kuwaiti so­ci­ety.

Through its Ra­madan CSSR cam­paign, Zain strength­ened its strate­gic part­ner­ships with var­i­ous lead­ing Kuwaiti or­ga­ni­za­tions from both the pub­lic and pri­vate sec­tors, in­clud­ing Zakat House, Kuwait Red Cres­cent So­ci­ety (KRCS), the Min­istry of In­te­rior (MOI), the Min­istry of So­cial Af­fairs and La­bor, hos­pi­tals of Al-Sabah Med­i­cal Area, the Women’s Cul­tural and So­cial So­ci­ety, Al-Na­jat Char­i­ta­ble So­ci­ety, the Kuwait Food Bank, as well as other lead­ing en­ti­ties.

Machla Boxes, If­tar Halls

Ev­ery year, Zain launches its Ra­madan CSSR cam­paign with the Machla Boxes ini­tia­tive, where the com­pany’s vol­un­teers de­liver es­sen­tial food sup­plies (Machla Boxes) to un­der­priv­i­leged fam­i­lies in Kuwait. Zain’s own team of vol­un­teers packed the boxes - con­tain­ing es­sen­tial food sup­plies - at the com­pany’s main head­quar­ters and de­liv­ered them to needy fam­i­lies who are in need of sup­port dur­ing the month of fast­ing. The dis­tri­bu­tion cov­ered mul­ti­ple ar­eas of Al-Jahra gov­er­norate, as well as Zakat House and Kuwait Red Cres­cent So­ci­ety.

As soon as the Holy Month started, Zain launched its an­nual ‘If­tar Al-Saem’ ini­tia­tive to pro­vide fast­ing in­di­vid­u­als with If­tar meals. The com­pany dis­trib­uted daily meals through­out the Holy Month in two dif­fer­ent halls in Jileeb Al-Shuy­oukh and Khai­tan. The If­tar meal ban­quets were su­per­vised by Zain’s vol­un­teers, and were spread in two main halls in Kuwait as part of a strat­egy to cover the most pop­u­lated ar­eas of Kuwait in or­der to as­sure the max­i­mum amount of in­di­vid­u­als’ If­tar needs are cov­ered.

Ra­madan If­tar gath­er­ings

Zain hosted an If­tar gath­er­ing for the Depart­ment of Air­port se­cu­rity to share the bless­ings of Ra­madan with them in recog­ni­tion of the ef­forts they ex­ert dur­ing the Holy Month. Zain’s team vis­ited Kuwait In­ter­na­tional Air­port to share the If­tar meal it hosted with the per­son­nel on duty in their place of op­er­a­tion as a ges­ture of grat­i­tude and ap­pre­ci­a­tion to those men who ded­i­cate their time and ef­forts to the safety and pro­tec­tion of Kuwait. Zain also shared the Ra­madan If­tar meal with its Con­tact Cen­ter (107) agents to rec­og­nize the ef­forts they ex­erted dur­ing the Holy Month of Ra­madan. The event wit­nessed the at­ten­dance of Zain Kuwait’s Chief Ex­ec­u­tive Of­fi­cer Ea­man Al-Roud­han along with Chiefs and Di­rec­tors from across the com­pany’s di­vi­sions, who were keen on rec­og­niz­ing and high­light­ing the tire­less ef­forts and hard work of con­tact cen­ter agents, es­pe­cially those who work around the clock all week long to pro­vide the high­est stan­dards of cus­tomer ser­vice to Kuwait’s largest fam­ily of sub­scribers.

Vis­it­ing care cen­ters, hos­pi­tals

Zain shared the joys and the bless­ings of the Holy Month and the tra­di­tion of gir­gian with or­phans, the el­derly, and peo­ple with spe­cial needs, by vis­it­ing the Min­istry of So­cial Af­fairs and La­bor’s Care Cen­ters. Zain’s team, con­sist­ing of staff and vol­un­teers, par­tic­i­pated in dis­tribut­ing gifts and gir­gian candy to or­phaned chil­dren, the el­derly, and peo­ple with spe­cial needs in an at­mos­phere filled with joy and hap­pi­ness. The com­pany be­lieves the Holy month of Ra­madan is a spe­cial time of the year, and it is al­ways keen on shar­ing the bless­ings of this time with those who are less for­tu­nate in the com­mu­nity.

Zain also shared the joys of the tra­di­tion of gir­gian with chil­dren and pa­tients in a num­ber of the big­gest hos­pi­tals in Kuwait. The com­pany’s team vis­ited the hos­pi­tals dur­ing this blessed time of year to dis­trib­ute gifts and gir­gian to chil­dren, their par­ents, as well as the med­i­cal staff who take care of them to cel­e­brate the oc­ca­sion in a fam­ily at­mos­phere full of joy and hap­pi­ness. Zain’s team, in­clud­ing staff and vol­un­teers, dis­trib­uted gifts and gir­gian candy to chil­dren in a num­ber of Kuwait’s big­gest and most prom­i­nent hos­pi­tals in­clud­ing Zain Hos­pi­tal, Al-Amiri Hos­pi­tal, Al-Razi Hos­pi­tal, Ibn Sina Hos­pi­tal, and NBK Hos­pi­tal.

‘Ya Baghi Al-Khair Aq­bel’ char­i­ta­ble ini­tia­tive

Zain launched its char­i­ta­ble ini­tia­tive “Ya Baghi Al-Khair Aq­bel for the sec­ond year run­ning, where the com­pany will do­nate 500 fils to a char­i­ta­ble or­ga­ni­za­tion for ev­ery paid bill dur­ing the month of Ra­madan. Dur­ing Ra­madan of last year, Zain do­nated over KD 45,000 on be­half of its cus­tomers for hu­man­i­tar­ian causes. The do­na­tion came as part of its char­i­ta­ble ini­tia­tive “Ya Baghi Al-Khair Aq­bel”, and came in col­lab­o­ra­tion with Sheikh Ab­dul­lah Al-Nouri Char­ity As­so­ci­a­tion, where the do­na­tions were uti­lized to build a num­ber of wa­ter wells at dis­tant lo­ca­tions in So­ma­lia and Kyr­gyzs­tan with the aim of pro­vid­ing clean and safe drink­ing wa­ter to un­der­priv­i­leged fam­i­lies.

This year, Zain will also do­nate 500 fils for ev­ery bill paid by cus­tomers any­time dur­ing the Holy Month of Ra­madan through one of Zain’s elec­tronic or direct chan­nels, in­clud­ing Zain’s web­site, Zain’s smart­phone app, any of Zain’s quick­pay ma­chines, and the com­pany’s main branches avail­able through­out the coun­try. The col­lected do­na­tions will be de­liv­ered to a char­i­ta­ble or­ga­ni­za­tion in Kuwait to sup­port phil­an­thropic projects as well as im­prove the liv­ing con­di­tions of needy fam­i­lies.

Zain shared the joys of Ger­giaan in col­lab­o­ra­tion with AlA­mal club for chil­dren with can­cer and blood dis­or­ders. The event, hosted at the Women’s Cul­tural and So­cial So­ci­ety head­quar­ters at Kha­lidiya, wit­nessed the at­ten­dance of a large num­ber of Zain vol­un­teers, mem­bers of the Women’s Cul­tural So­ci­ety, as well as by artist Ho­moud Al-Khudur and ac­tor Shabaan Ab­bas. Zain’s vol­un­teers de­lighted the chil­dren and their fam­i­lies by dis­tribut­ing gir­gian and gifts while also or­ga­niz­ing many other fun ac­tiv­i­ties in­clud­ing a magic show, tra­di­tional danc­ing, and a face paint­ing ses­sion.

‘Ab­shiro Bil Khair’ cam­paign

Dur­ing Ra­madan, Zain was a hu­man­i­tar­ian part­ner of the “Ab­shiro Bil Khair” cam­paign launched by Al-Na­jat Char­i­ta­ble So­ci­ety. The cam­paign, aimed at sup­port­ing un­der­priv­i­leged fam­i­lies and stu­dents in Kuwait, re­ceived over­whelm­ing suc­cess of over KD 4 mil­lion of do­na­tions col­lected in just 12 hours. Through its hu­man­i­tar­ian part­ner­ship, Zain in­vited its cus­tomers to con­trib­ute and do­nate to the cam­paign by send­ing over a mil­lion SMS mes­sages con­tain­ing a link to the of­fi­cial do­na­tion por­tal to its cus­tomer base, con­sid­ered the largest in Kuwait. The com­pany also com­mu­ni­cated the cam­paign to over 670K fol­low­ers on its of­fi­cial so­cial me­dia chan­nels.

Al-Na­jat Char­i­ta­ble So­ci­ety launched its char­i­ta­ble cam­paign en­ti­tled “Ab­shiro Bil Khair” in 360 mall, where a large pro­jec­tion screen dis­played the on­line do­na­tions progress in real time. The cam­paign lasted for 12 straight hours, and re­sulted in an over­whelm­ing amount of KD 4 mil­lion of do­na­tions col­lected in such a short pe­riod of time. A part of the do­na­tions will be uti­lized to sup­port the es­sen­tial needs of un­der­priv­i­leged fam­i­lies in Kuwait on a monthly ba­sis through­out a full year, while the other part will be uti­lized to pay the tuition fees of un­der­priv­i­leged stu­dents in Kuwait on a monthly ba­sis through­out a full year.

Zain shared the spir­i­tual bless­ings of the Last 10 Days of the Holy Month of Ra­madan by pro­vid­ing prayer es­sen­tials at a num­ber of Kuwait’s big­gest mosques to foster an even more spir­i­tual en­vi­ron­ment dur­ing the Holy Month. The com­pany was keen to pro­vide com­fort to wor­ship­pers per­form­ing their Qiyam prayers dur­ing the last 10 days of Ra­madan at a num­ber of Kuwait’s big­gest mosques, most no­tably Jaber Al-Ali Mosque in Shuhada Area. Zain’s vol­un­teers dis­trib­uted the prayer es­sen­tials, mainly prayer chairs, as well as cold bev­er­ages and snacks to pro­vide wor­ship­pers with more com­fort­able cir­cum­stances dur­ing the hot weather con­di­tions.

Eid break­fast meals

Zain shared the joys of Eid with needy la­bor­ers and un­der­priv­i­leged in­di­vid­u­als by dis­tribut­ing Eid break­fast meals as part of the com­pany’s strate­gic part­ner­ship with the Kuwait Food Bank. Zain dis­trib­uted 2000 break­fast meals af­ter Eid prayers to needy la­bor­ers and un­der­priv­i­leged in­di­vid­u­als in a num­ber of Kuwait’s largest mosques. The ini­tia­tive was su­per­vised by the Kuwait Food Bank who as­sured the qual­ity of the meals and dis­trib­uted enough quan­ti­ties to those who are less for­tu­nate dur­ing Eid.

Al-Roud­han foot­ball tour­na­ment

Be­fore the ar­rival of the Holy Month, Zain an­nounced its Di­a­mond Spon­sor­ship of the 38th edi­tion of Al-Roud­han Ra­madan Foot­ball Tour­na­ment for the sec­ond year run­ning. The event came un­der the pa­tron­age of HH the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ah­mad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah.

Zain’s sup­port of Al-Roud­han tour­na­ment is linked to it be­ing the most prom­i­nent sports and youth event in Kuwait and the re­gion dur­ing the Holy Month of Ra­madan.

Ev­ery year, Kuwaiti au­di­ences look for­ward to the tour­na­ment, with Zain rep­re­sen­ta­tives be­ing present at the event through­out, where they in­ter­acted with the at­tend­ing au­di­ences through var­i­ous com­pe­ti­tions, ac­tiv­i­ties, and en­ter­tain­ment pro­grams. The com­pany also dis­trib­uted valu­able prizes and held daily chal­lenges and com­pe­ti­tions on its of­fi­cial so­cial me­dia chan­nels. In ad­di­tion, Zain or­ga­nized a Ger­giaan ac­tiv­ity where it dis­trib­uted gifts and candy while host­ing a tra­di­tional per­for­mance.
