Pro­fes­sor Iliac Mi­hov Reap­pointed as INSEAD dean

INSEAD, the global busi­ness school with cam­puses in Europe, Asia and Mid­dle East, an­nounced to­day the re-ap­point­ment of Ilian Mi­hov, the cur­rent Dean and the Raus­ing Chaired Pro­fes­sor of Busi­ness and Eco­nomic Trans­for­ma­tion, as Dean of INSEAD for a sec­ond five-year term com­menc­ing Septem­ber 1,2018. Pro­fes­sor Mi­hov has been serv­ing as Dean of the school since Oc­to­ber 1, 2013. He is also the first Dean to be based in the school's Asia cam­pus in Sin­ga­pore and the sec­ond Dean of INSEAD to be elected for two con­sec­u­tive terms. Dean Mi­hov's re-ap­point­ment was con­firmed by the INSEAD Board, fol­low­ing the INSEAD Dean Re­newal Com­mit­tee's rec­om­men­da­tion, af­ter the school's fac­ulty voted over­whelm­ingly in fa­vor of it.

An­dreas Ja­cobs (MBA'90D), Chair­man of the INSEAD Board, said, "Ilian's re­newed man­date strength­ens what we all believe to bea his­tor­i­cally sig­nif­i­cant time for INSEAD. I want to thank Ilian for all he has done for the school thus far, and for hav­ing been so in­spired by the en­tire INSEAD com­mu­nity that he wel­comed this ex­ten­sion of his ser­vice. I am look­ing for­ward to work­ing closely with Ilian dur­ing his next term as he leads INSEAD into a bold and ex­cit­ing fu­ture."

Un­der Dean Mi­hov's lead­er­ship, INSEAD has strength­ened its aca­demic ex­cel­lence by hir­ing the best minds from around the globe. Widely recog­nised as a school of in­ter­na­tional thought lead­er­ship, the fac­ulty are con­sis­tently cel­e­brated for the im­pact of their re­search, the dy­namic course de­liv­ery through in­no­va­tive teach­ing meth­ods and lead­ing-edge on­line pro­gram­ming, as well as the value of their busi­ness cases.

Dur­ing his cur­rent term, INSEAD achieved a "triple-first" in the Fi­nan­cial Times rank­ings in 2016 -INSEAD's MBA and Ts­inghua-INSEAD EMBA(TIEMBA) pro­grams were ranked #1, while the Global Ex­ec­u­tive MBA (GEMBA) pro­gram was the high­est ranked sin­gleschool EMBA pro­gram. The INSEAD MBA pro­gram re­tained its #1 po­si­tion in the Fi­nan­cial Times rank­ing in 2017.

Ilian Mi­hov, Dean of INSEAD and Pro­fes­sor of Eco­nom­ics, said "I am hum­bled by the vote of the fac­ulty and the Board. Dean Mi­hov's first term has also seen the school gain nu­mer­ous achieve­ments and in­no­va­tions. For ex­am­ple: the cam­pus ex­pan­sion in Sin­ga­pore to meet the in­creas­ing de­mand of man­age­ment ed­u­ca­tion glob­ally, a re­vi­tal­ized MBA cur­ricu­lum to bet­ter pre­pare stu­dents to build new busi­nesses, and an in­te­grated dig­i­tal strat­egy in which INSEAD Cus­tomised On­line Pro­gramme has re­ceived prom­i­nent awards for in­dus­try im­pact.

In ad­di­tion, the school has de­vel­oped highly per­son­al­ized and comprehensive ca­reer ser­vices, which yield out­stand­ing re­sults. The school has also seen a ma­jor in­crease in MBA ap­pli­ca­tions and the high­est-ever pro­por­tion of fe­male stu­dents at a record 38 per­cent for the classes grad­u­at­ing in 2017. Fi­nally, in the last few years un­der Dean Mi­hov's term, INSEAD has en­gaged in in­creased out­reach and fundrais­ing ef­forts, yield­ing out­stand­ing re­sults. In­vest­ments in the school in 2015-2016 amounted to Ä23.8M,an in­crease of 67% over the year prior, while the es­tab­lish­ment of new ini­tia­tives such as the global Alumni Fo­rums have con­nected the alumni back to the school.
