ESF marks 49 years of ex­cel­lence

The English School Fa­ha­heel’s (ESF) 49th An­nual Grad­u­a­tion and Sixth Form Prize­giv­ing was once again held with great fan­fare at the Grand Hashemi Ball­room at the Radis­son Blu Ho­tel. Grad­u­ates and hun­dreds of guests thor­oughly en­joyed an evening that saw prizes handed out by Chief Guest renowned Kuwaiti artist and writer Thu­raya Al-Baqsami ac­com­pa­nied by School Chair­per­son Jas­mine Shushaiber. The evening was also at­tended by many special guests and par­ents. The evening com­menced with the en­try of the class of 2017 to a huge round of ap­plause from the par­ents and guests.

The Chair­per­son Shuhaiber spoke about progress the school has made and made a special trib­ute to the late Chair­man Ibrahim Shuhaiber. A special sou­venir was made to for Shuhaiber as well as a special film shown dur­ing the event. Baqsami along with Chair­per­son Shuhaiber pre­sented prizes to the Grad­u­ates fol­lowed by speeches by the Head Prin­ci­pal Rus­sel Dun­lop, Up­per School Prin­ci­pal Stephen Dick­ens. Lower School Prin­ci­pal Claire Oraby pre­sented the In­ter­na­tional Stu­dent Award to Year 12 stu­dent Kwang­min Nam.

One of the high­lights of the evening was the mu­si­cal in­ter­ludes per­formed by year 13 stu­dent Kung mi Lee on the pi­ano and the out­stand­ing Robert Hao sang“Some­where over the Rain­bow”. The Head Prin­ci­pal and Up­per School Prin­ci­pal both spoke dur­ing the event of the out­stand­ing prin­ci­pal Stephen Dick­ens in their speeches. Dick­ens also elab­o­rated on the high per­cent­age pass rates at ESF.

A Special prize was then awarded to the Head boy Ali Ma­jlesi and Head Girl Sara Shuhaiber by the In­dian Am­bas­sador to the state of Kuwait Sunil Jain. A special French prize was awarded by Fredrique As­far to the most de­serv­ing French lan­guage stu­dent Ha­gar Ghoneim. This year’s In­ter­na­tional Stu­dent Award was pre­sented to Fa­tima Al-Han­dal. The evening con­cluded with a photo op­por­tu­nity for the Grad­u­ates and par­ents fol­lowed by a sump­tu­ous din­ner buf­fet for the guests.
