KUWAIT: A Kuwaiti folklore band performs during a national activity. Pearl diving ships in pre-oil Kuwait used to carry a person named ‘Al-Nahham’ whose job was to sing, entertain and motivate divers during long sea voyages. After the discovery of oil and subsequent end of pearl diving trips, ‘Al-Nahma’ became celebrated as a folklore musical art form in Kuwait.
