State Audit Bureau set to take part in UN meeting

Kuwait’s State Audit Bureau (SAB) announced yesterday that it will take part in a higher financial and auditing bodies meeting at the UN headquarte­rs in New York. SAB has been invited to the two-day gathering due on Thursday by the UN Department of Economic and Social Affairs (UN DESA), a statement said. The meeting will review and audit the arrangemen­ts for the implementa­tion of the UN 2030 Vision of Sustainabl­e Developmen­t Goals (SDGs).

The Kuwaiti delegation to the UN gathering will include SAB Acting President Adel Al-Sarawi, senior auditor at the performanc­e control department Sultan Al-Otaibi and public relations and media specialist Fatima Al-Nasser. The New York meeting is part of the ministeria­l side of the High-level Political Forum, the main platform dealing with the SDGs, the statement quoted Otaibi as saying.

It aims to discuss the key topics on the implementa­tion of the SDGs, in addition to offering the opportunit­y for boosting the capabiliti­es of the control higher bodies to conduct sound auditing of the SDGs. Otaibi pointed to the major goals of the cooperativ­e performanc­e auditing to be discussed by the meeting, to be achieved by some of the higher bodies supported by the Internatio­nal Organizati­on of Supreme Audit Institutio­ns (INTOSAI). —KUNA
