State Audit Bureau set to take part in UN meeting
Kuwait’s State Audit Bureau (SAB) announced yesterday that it will take part in a higher financial and auditing bodies meeting at the UN headquarters in New York. SAB has been invited to the two-day gathering due on Thursday by the UN Department of Economic and Social Affairs (UN DESA), a statement said. The meeting will review and audit the arrangements for the implementation of the UN 2030 Vision of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
The Kuwaiti delegation to the UN gathering will include SAB Acting President Adel Al-Sarawi, senior auditor at the performance control department Sultan Al-Otaibi and public relations and media specialist Fatima Al-Nasser. The New York meeting is part of the ministerial side of the High-level Political Forum, the main platform dealing with the SDGs, the statement quoted Otaibi as saying.
It aims to discuss the key topics on the implementation of the SDGs, in addition to offering the opportunity for boosting the capabilities of the control higher bodies to conduct sound auditing of the SDGs. Otaibi pointed to the major goals of the cooperative performance auditing to be discussed by the meeting, to be achieved by some of the higher bodies supported by the International Organization of Supreme Audit Institutions (INTOSAI). —KUNA
