An­nual pearl div­ing jour­ney kicks off with ‘Al-Dasha’ cer­e­mony

With the tra­di­tional ‘Al-Dasha’ cer­e­mony, Gulf Bank has an­nounced the of­fi­cial kick off of the 29th memo­rial jour­ney for Pearl Div­ing, which runs from July 27 to Au­gust 3, 2017. Or­ga­nized each year by the Com­mit­tee of the Ma­rine Her­itage of the Kuwait Sea Sport Club, the jour­ney is tak­ing place un­der the Pa­tron­age of His High­ness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmed Al-Jaber Al-Sabah.

Spon­sored by Gulf Bank for the 8th con­sec­u­tive year, the jour­ney kicked off on July 27, 2017 at 8:30 am, with a spe­cial “Al-Dasha” cer­e­mony. Rep­re­sent­ing HH the Amir, the cer­e­mony was at­tended by Dr Mo­ham­mad Ab­du­latif Al-Fares, Min­is­ter of Education and Min­is­ter of Higher Education. The cer­e­mony was also at­tended by Kuwait Sea Club’s Chair­man, Ma­jor Gen­eral Fa­had Ahmed Al-Fa­had, in ad­di­tion to friends and fam­ily mem­bers of the par­tic­i­pants.

The dhows leave car­ry­ing cap­tains as well as other par­tic­i­pants head­ing to AlKhairan for an en­tire week trip. The re­turn cer­e­mony “Al-Qof­fal” is planned on Au­gust 3, 2017. The Pearl Div­ing Memo­rial Jour­ney is one of the ini­tia­tives that Gulf bank spon­sors on an an­nual ba­sis, it is a key part of its long-term com­mit­ment to­wards pre­serv­ing the her­itage and con­tin­u­ing the tra­di­tions of Kuwait’s unique past.

The jour­ney aims to re­mind young Kuwaiti gen­er­a­tions of the dif­fi­cul­ties and chal­lenges faced by their fore­fa­thers in earn­ing their liv­ing, along with a mes­sage urg­ing these gen­er­a­tions to up­hold the tra­di­tions and values their an­ces­tors de­vel­oped dur­ing that time. Gulf Bank con­tin­ues to main­tain and strengthen its po­si­tion as an in­te­gral part of the Kuwaiti so­ci­ety. The Bank sup­ports and em­pha­sizes the true Kuwaiti iden­tity and the im­por­tance of the Kuwaiti tra­di­tions and cus­toms, through spon­sor­ing dif­fer­ent of so­cial ac­tiv­i­ties and events.

Dr Mo­ham­mad Ab­du­latif Al-Fares, Min­is­ter of Education and Min­is­ter of Higher Education hands the Kuwaiti flag to rep­re­sen­ta­tive of the Com­mit­tee of the Ma­rine Her­itage.

The Ah­madi gov­er­nor Sheikh Fawaz Khalid Al-Ha­mad Al-Sabah re­cently met mem­bers of the CoSo­ci­eties Union where they dis­cussed the im­por­tance of the Co-op­er­a­tion move­ment in the state of Kuwait. They also dis­cussed the dis­tin­guished co­op­er­a­tion be­tween Ah­madi gov­er­norate and the union.
