Kuwait, UK discuss ties

Means of promoting security and military cooperatio­n featured high on a meeting between the Kuwait National Guard and a visiting British military delegation on Saturday. The meeting discussed boosting mutual cooperatio­n, mainly security and training, the National Guard said in a press statement. The delegation, led by head of Internatio­nal Policy and Planning for the British Ministry of Defense David Hogan-Hern, visited Sheikh Salem Al-Ali Al-Sabah Camp, Kuwait’s National Guard HQ, and were briefed on its facilities, it added. Meanwhile, head of the Kuwait National Guard Deputy Chief’s Diwan, Maj Gen Jamal Thiyab affirmed the guard’s keenness on developing the capabiliti­es of its personnel, and raising combat efficiency and readiness based on its 2020 strategic plan. The plan pays much attention to fostering military relations and partnershi­ps with the internatio­nal institutio­ns of friendly countries, he said. A number of senior officials were present during the reception of the delegation.
