Kuwait, UK dis­cuss ties

Means of pro­mot­ing se­cu­rity and mil­i­tary co­op­er­a­tion fea­tured high on a meet­ing be­tween the Kuwait Na­tional Guard and a vis­it­ing Bri­tish mil­i­tary del­e­ga­tion on Satur­day. The meet­ing dis­cussed boost­ing mu­tual co­op­er­a­tion, mainly se­cu­rity and train­ing, the Na­tional Guard said in a press state­ment. The del­e­ga­tion, led by head of In­ter­na­tional Pol­icy and Plan­ning for the Bri­tish Min­istry of De­fense David Ho­gan-Hern, vis­ited Sheikh Salem Al-Ali Al-Sabah Camp, Kuwait’s Na­tional Guard HQ, and were briefed on its fa­cil­i­ties, it added. Mean­while, head of the Kuwait Na­tional Guard Deputy Chief’s Di­wan, Maj Gen Ja­mal Thiyab af­firmed the guard’s keen­ness on de­vel­op­ing the ca­pa­bil­i­ties of its per­son­nel, and rais­ing com­bat ef­fi­ciency and readi­ness based on its 2020 strate­gic plan. The plan pays much at­ten­tion to fos­ter­ing mil­i­tary re­la­tions and part­ner­ships with the in­ter­na­tional in­sti­tu­tions of friendly coun­tries, he said. A num­ber of se­nior of­fi­cials were present dur­ing the re­cep­tion of the del­e­ga­tion.
