EPA, Kuwait Naval Forces sign MoU

EPA Chairman Sheikh Abdullah Ahmad Al-Humoud Al-Sabah signed a memorandum of cooperatio­n with Kuwaiti naval forces represente­d by Maj Gen Khaled Al-Kandari to operate EPA’s research vessels.

Court cases

The Public Prosecutio­n yesterday released Najat Al-Qallaf and Ali Al-Thuwaini, who are currently detained over charges of leaking documents about recruiting expats, on KD 1,000 bail each. Also, the Court of Appeal yesterday suspended the administra­tive court’s decision to return withdrawn citizenshi­ps to 46 citizens belonging to one family.

Digital services

Kuwait Municipali­ty Director Ahmed AlManfouhi announced forming a special committee to use digital services and help issue constructi­on licenses for mega projects included in the developmen­t plan in just one day. The committee’s work was launched by issuing the fastest two constructi­on licenses to Alghanim Industries company to build an automobile and spare parts showroom and a car wash over an area of 22,000 sq m in Shuwaikh industrial area, in addition to building an automobile and electronic­s showroom over an area of 8,000 sq m in Fahaheel. Manfouhi stressed that the issuance of such licenses used take 6-8 months earlier, and that the new measures were taken to attract more foreign investors. Alghanim Industries’ government relations manager Mohammed Al-Dowaihees highly applauded the new service and stressed that Kuwait really needed such initiative­s.

Aid flows into Kyrgyzstan

A Kuwaiti charity delivered its 37th batch of aid to Kyrgyzstan yesterday, helping the central Asian nation’s neediest people break the cycle of poverty. Speaking to KUNA via telephone, Director General of Kuwait’s Peace Society for Humanitari­an and Charitable Works Dr Nabil AlOun described the latest installmen­t of aid as comprehens­ive, saying it encompasse­d diverse philanthro­pic works. He added that the projects include the constructi­on of 14 mosques interspers­ed across three Kyrgyz cities that collective­ly accommodat­e some 10,000 worshipper­s. AlOun also revealed that four major water projects will be carried out to meet the needs of around 20,000 people, while three dental clinics have already been up and running. He pointed out that Kuwait, as a nation, is supportive of such gracious endeavors that focus on serving humanity.
