Australian Senate receives letter on anti-Islam actions
KUWAIT: President of the Senate of Australia Stephen Parry received a letter from Kuwait’s National Assembly Speaker Marzouq Al-Ghanem, hailing the senate’s condemnation of anti-Islam actions in the country. The letter, delivered by Kuwaiti Ambassador to Australia Najeeb Al-Bader yesterday, expressed appreciation for the senate’s opposition to the anti-Islam actions taken by leader of the One Nation Party Pauline Hanson.
During his meeting with Parry, ambassador Al-Bader affirmed that Kuwait believes in dialogue as a way of spreading peace among nations, said Kuwait Embassy in a statement received by KUNA. Al-Bader also explained to the Australian official that Muslim countries are exerting great efforts to fight terrorism and extremism, as part of their commitment to the international fight against terrorism.
Al-Bader meanwhile, applauded the contributions of over 600,000 of Australia’s Muslims to the country’s development in all fields, the embassy added. Hanson had spoken out controversial anti-Islam statements, among them were calls to forbid wearing the burqa. She had also launched a campaign aiming to prevent Muslim migration to Australia. — KUNA
