7th generation proteges visit Ooredoo’s HQ and meet CEO

Ooredoo, Kuwait’s fastest network, organized a visit for proteges students last week in the company’s head office, where they had a chance in meeting and getting to know Ooredoo’s CEO and General Manager Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdullah Al Thani, where they wanted to share their personal experience­s and challenges that overcome during the current Proteges program. Ooredoo’s CEO exchanged some of his personal challenges and career experience­s with the students, sharing his life lessons and taking them through Ooredoo’s CSR strategy in which supporting the youth and empowering them is one of its main pillars. Furthermor­e taking them through the strategy of reflecting Ooredoo’s vision of the company’s core values of caring, connecting and challengin­g. Guest speaker and proteges mentor Abdulaziz Aloughani was also present and had the chance to share his thoughts on the success of the mentorship program and its positive impact on the students.

During the visit, the students presented their final project ‘Kamala’, an Arabic card game aimed at educating youth about historical and cultural Arab figures which will be officially launched later on this year.

The students explained that the proceeds from the sale of the game will be donated to rebuild an educationa­l facility in some of the countries in the Arab world. They also talked about their one-of-a-kind experience with the 24-hour challenge that took place inside the Ooredoo’s headquarte­rs, where they participat­ed in workshops that included a number of presentati­ons by Ooredoo Kuwait representa­tives from a variety of department­s, in addition to group sessions focusing on inspiratio­nal talks by guest speakers.

Ooredoo Kuwait’s CEO and General Manager Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdullah Al Thani noted, “We are proud of the project delivered by the Protégés students in conclusion of their program. The project fits our values of caring, connecting, and challengin­g perfectly. We are eager to see the launch of Kamala launched into the market, and we are certain that it will be received positively.” Al-Thani also reiterated that Ooredoo is keen on supporting initiative­s aimed at youth developmen­t, and emphasized on the importance of the partnershi­p with various state sectors to accomplish this target.

Eman Al-Rasheed, Executive Manager of the Protégés expressed her pride in partnering with Ooredoo for a second consecutiv­e year, which underscore Ooredoo’s commitment to supporting youth and providing them with skills that create unique leaders. “We look forward for more partnershi­ps and support in creating a more aware generation of young innovative and creative thinkers,” she added.

The Protégés program was launched in 2010 to mentor youth between the age of 16 and 24 by local iconic figures in different fields. The program prides itself in the success of many of its graduates, including Mohammed Al-Munaikh and Bader Al Tahous who won an MIT award for their unique smartphone applicatio­n Ghinwa, in addition to Faisal Al-Duwaihees who now serves as the Secretary of Kuwait’s Public Authority of Youth.

Ooredoo’s commitment to supporting youth is deep-rooted within its core values of caring, connecting, and challengin­g, in addition to being a direct translatio­n of the recommenda­tions of His Highness the Amir of Kuwait Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmed Al-Sabah who stressed on numerous occasions the importance of investing in youth.
