KUWAIT: The Kuwait Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI) is hosting the ‘Small and Crafts Enterprises’ fair from Oct 16-18, 2017, with 42 small projects of companies and institutions participating. The exhibition is open to the public from 9:00 am to 2:00 pm and from 5:00 pm to 9:00 pm on all three days. It is being held in cooperation with the National Fund for Small and Medium Enterprise (SME) Development, the Industrial Bank of Kuwait and the Ministry of State for Youth Affairs. The Sabah Al-Ahmad Center for Giftedness and Creativity, Ministry of Commerce and Industry, Kuwait Business Center and Al-Baadir voluntary group are also participating, among others.

Abdulwahab Al-Wazzan, Second Vice Chairman of KCCI, said that the chamber always supports the youth. “This is the first fair that we have hosted to develop youth skills, giving them a chance to promote their projects, as they are considered the main pillar of Kuwait’s economy. During my tour of the fair, I saw many impressive projects and inventions, which reflects a positive impression and bright future of the Kuwaiti youth,” he said during the launch ceremony.

“Through this fair, we aim to encourage young Kuwaitis to work in the private sector or start their own businesses. This leads to the development of countries and improves productive and industrial plans. We need to change the community from a consuming to a producing one,” he added.

Kuwaitis have made intentional achievements. “Various inventions by young Kuwaitis have been produced internationally by China, Taiwan, United States and others. Some US states have adopted ideas of Kuwaiti inventors and produced them. We are proud of them. It’s our role to promote, direct and support young people, and we even offer them training and hold exhibitions for them. We aim to let businessmen and companies know more about these youth inventors,” concluded Wazzan.

Sheikha Al-Zain Al-Sabah, Undersecretary of the Ministry of State for Youth Affairs, said such exhibitions bring together young inventors or those who have business ideas, and investors and companies, who have experience in the local market. This fair has various industries such as crafts, food and beverage, banking, real estate services and many others,” she pointed out.

The Small and Crafts Enterprises fair is a great opportunity for young people who want to establish their own businesses. “During this fair, young creative people can meet investors and companies that can adopt their business ideas that need financing. This fair is an interactive space providing opportunities for the youth. The ministry is also preparing four new activities to be held soon as part of the ‘Kuwait is the Capital of Youth’ program. The ministry’s policy is to turn the youth’s ambitions into reality,” explained Sheikha Al-Zain.
