Sheraton Hotel Kuwait holds EU education exposition

KUWAIT: A two-day EU educationa­l expo ‘Q8EduEx’ commenced yesterday at Sheraton Hotel Kuwait. Adel Al-Masaad, Assistant Undersecre­tary of Administra­tive and Financial Affairs at the Ministry of Higher Education, inaugurate­d the Q8EduEx Autumn - Internatio­nal Higher Education Exhibition, in the presence of ambassador­s, university and school heads. German Ambassador to Kuwait Karl Bergner lauded the organizers, saying that he was happy to be part of the expo with other EU member countries including.

“As you can see, here we are united in our efforts to win more students from this part of the world,” Bergner said. “We want to increase awareness on EU education and no tuition fees at EU universiti­es. State universiti­es are free, English is also the medium of instructio­ns in German universiti­es. We have a strong focus on applied sciences. If you study in Europe you have access to a vast network of universiti­es and companies. It is an added advantage if you study in Europe, you just have to apply for the scholarshi­p.”

The Q8EduEx expo which ends today saw the participat­ion of 12 countries from around the world including the US, UK, Australia, Germany, the Netherland­s, Belgium, France, Ireland, Italy, Lebanon, United Arab Emirates and Kuwait. European universiti­es offer various academic discipline­s from political sciences, engineerin­g to arts and business. EU universiti­es are keen on accepting students from Kuwait and foreign students including masters and PhD levels, with English-taught programs.

Massad said, “Q8EduEx is a very important event for Kuwait. It has the ability to uplift and improve the human resource skills of the country which will directly improve the economy. The exhibition has done a brilliant job in being able to promote local and internatio­nal higher education institutio­ns. I urge the youth and their parents to visit the expo and use this opportunit­y, which has been created for them to their maximum benefit.”

Sadiq Ahmed Khan, a managing director from the organizing company said, “Q8EduEx provides the perfect opportunit­y for school students (grade 10-12) to meet and discuss their future path with various prestigiou­s local and internatio­nal colleges and universiti­es. This is a great opportunit­y for parents to come with prospectiv­e students to secure their future.”
