Sheraton Hotel Kuwait holds EU education exposition
KUWAIT: A two-day EU educational expo ‘Q8EduEx’ commenced yesterday at Sheraton Hotel Kuwait. Adel Al-Masaad, Assistant Undersecretary of Administrative and Financial Affairs at the Ministry of Higher Education, inaugurated the Q8EduEx Autumn - International Higher Education Exhibition, in the presence of ambassadors, university and school heads. German Ambassador to Kuwait Karl Bergner lauded the organizers, saying that he was happy to be part of the expo with other EU member countries including.
“As you can see, here we are united in our efforts to win more students from this part of the world,” Bergner said. “We want to increase awareness on EU education and no tuition fees at EU universities. State universities are free, English is also the medium of instructions in German universities. We have a strong focus on applied sciences. If you study in Europe you have access to a vast network of universities and companies. It is an added advantage if you study in Europe, you just have to apply for the scholarship.”
The Q8EduEx expo which ends today saw the participation of 12 countries from around the world including the US, UK, Australia, Germany, the Netherlands, Belgium, France, Ireland, Italy, Lebanon, United Arab Emirates and Kuwait. European universities offer various academic disciplines from political sciences, engineering to arts and business. EU universities are keen on accepting students from Kuwait and foreign students including masters and PhD levels, with English-taught programs.
Massad said, “Q8EduEx is a very important event for Kuwait. It has the ability to uplift and improve the human resource skills of the country which will directly improve the economy. The exhibition has done a brilliant job in being able to promote local and international higher education institutions. I urge the youth and their parents to visit the expo and use this opportunity, which has been created for them to their maximum benefit.”
