Director General of the Environment Public Authority (EPA) Sheikh Abdullah Al-Humoud Al-Sabah said that the soft opening of the nature reserve today would gauge the capabilities of the location before the official opening for the public next February.

Students from different educational levels, top officials of the state and environmental enthusiasts will be among the first to experience the Jahra nature reserve, said Sheikh Abdullah Al-Humoud, adding that the reserve will be opened throughout the year; however, it will be able to receive a certain capacity of visitors. Entry fees will be determined soon, but people with special needs will be exempted from paying, affirmed the official.

Meanwhile, head of the marine environment department at EPA Dr Fahad Al-Ajmi said that the nature reserve consisted of various kinds of fish, animals, and birds. He added that the reserve’s facilities would be subjected for expansions as the authority sees it fit. The various buildings provide educational and technical information to the visitors of the reserve.
