Cables thief arrested at Jamal Abdul Nasser Road

KUWAIT: The Interior Ministry’s Relations and Security Informatio­n Department said general security officers arrested an Arab man for stealing copper cables from Jamal Abdul Nasser Road. A police patrol noticed a man removing cables from the ground. When policemen approached him, he confessed to stealing the cables and selling them as copper prices are high. He was sent to concerned authoritie­s.

Traffic

The traffic department at Kuwait Internatio­nal Airport issued 6,498 citations, while 68 vehicles were impounded and five accidents were dealt with.

Fire

Fire broke out in a foam factory in Dajeej, and Farwaniya, Jleeb, Mishref and backup centers responded. Fire gutted the entire warehouse, but the blaze was put out without any injuries.

Crackdowns

Jahra municipali­ty violations removal department carried out a campaign against shops encroachin­g on state property and utilizing unlicensed areas. Ten steel and concrete fences were removed, besides two encroachme­nts by store owners. Meanwhile, Hawally municipali­ty announced that it carried out a campaign against restaurant­s and shops, which resulted in closing two stores and issuing 62 citations, including dealing in food before receiving a health certificat­e, employing a worker without a health certificat­e, roaming without a permit and dealing in expired foodstuff.

Cross dressers arrested

Three Kuwaiti men face legal action after patrolmen caught them dressed up in women’s clothes and carrying purses full of makeup in Abu Fateera.

Fight

Two women, Kuwaiti and Jordanian, got into a fight at a five-star hotel. The Jordanian woman claimed that she was beaten up at the hotel by the citizen and provided medical reports to support her claims. Meanwhile, the citizen lodged a complaint against the Jordanian woman. Concerned authoritie­s are investigat­ing.

Smuggling

Airport customs officers foiled an attempt to smuggle illicit tablets inside a motorcycle engine. An Arab man confessed of planning the smuggling with people from Egypt. Customs detective Rashid Al-Baraka received a tip about the smuggling attempt, and the recipient was arrested. 2,900 Tramadol tablets were found.

Break in

A Syrian man who attempted to break into a contractin­g office was caught by pedestrian­s while attempting to escape in Jleeb Al-Shuyoukh. He was sent to Farwaniya detectives’ department for questionin­g.
