KUWAIT: The Tamil Nadu Engineers Forum (TEF) in Kuwait opened the 8th Technological Innovations Conference and Exposition yesterday at Radisson Blu Hotel. The forum has a membership of about 600 engineers from various disciplines and industries in Kuwait. During his speech, TEF President Ramarah G said the forum was founded in 2000 and is the most active professional body in Kuwait. He said TEF has been organizing conferences, technical meetings and outreach activities, and is a step forward in meeting its social responsibility program.

He noted that the objective of the conference is to promote technological innovations in the oil and gas industry in the region by providing a forum for practitioners from industry and academia to share experiences, technological advances and new ideas.

Ahmad Al-Jemaz, DCEO - Petrochemicals and LNGI, said: “The conference’s theme of ‘Towards Sustainable Development’ is what we need to develop and focus on to increase value addition and create new domains for diversification within the organization. We appreciate the efforts by TEF in organizing this conference which provides value addition, enlightens engineers from all sectors and provides scientific, technical and innovative advancements to the conventional engineering approach.”

General Secretary Amuthan Ilakkuvan pointed out that for the 8th Technological Innovations Conference and Exposition, the flagship program of the year, TEF put in lots of planning, teamwork, motivation, attention and efforts. He added that the patronage they receive from oil and gas clients year after year is proof of the credibility the Indian community and various engineering and professional bodies in Kuwait have earned over the years.

The conference endeavors to raise the quality of debate and enable answers that actually work in transforming the way industries produce and supply energy to the market, as the world economy continues to depend on hydrocarbons as a source of energy despite rapid technological development. The event was attended by professionals in feed study, operations, maintenance, engineering, technical services, design, project management, reliability engineering, enterprise risk management and environment management. The event featured presentation of papers, posters and products.
