Ooredoo successful­ly concludes Flying Start Triathlon

KUWAIT: Ooredoo Kuwait concluded the Flying Start Triathlon sport activities last month with great success. Those activities were kick started with the Pasta Party in the Green Island, in which many famous restaurant­s participat­ed in offering their delicious meals to help the athletes with their carb loading in order to help them fuel up and build more energy before the big race. The first sports activity that was held is the kids Duathlon that targeted children ages 4 to 12 years old that competed in a fun run and safe cycling race. The race was a first of its kind in Kuwait, where the Flying Start Duathlon created a friendly and safe sports environmen­t for the children to compete in a running and cycling race. The second and main sporting event was the Flying Start Triathlon targeting participan­ts ages 18 years and above, that that gave hundreds of profession­al athletes and amateurs the chance to join a profession­al running cycling and swimming race located in the Green Island.

The triathlon is considered to be the biggest races in the Middle East, and the goal today is to create a new sports culture built on ethics, discipline, and sportsmans­hip. More than 600 participan­ts joined the tenth edition of the Triathlon this year from all over the world.

During the final ceremony, the winning participan­ts were inaugurate­d and were awarded valuable prizes based on their ranks in the Triathlon. Ooredoo Corporate Communicat­ion Senior Director Mijbil Al Ayoub was also awarded during the ceremony, for Ooredoo strategic partnershi­p with to the Flying Start Triathlon and also the commitment and also full support given for the youth in sports and many other activities that go in line with the company’s CSR values.

It is considerab­le to mention that Ooredoo had also sponsored and supported their brand ambassador, young Kuwaiti athlete Abdulaziz Al-Rashed that recently won the Xterra Off road Triathlon in Tahiti. AlRashed was the only Arab contestant to win this title. Ooredoo also proudly sponsored the Kuwait National Flag Ball Team during the Asia Cup, which was held in the Philippine­s. The team played against Vietnam, Korea, Japan, Thailand, and the Philippine­s. Kuwait National Flag Ball Team was the first Arab team to participat­e in such an internatio­nal competitio­n in this sport. In notable statement Ooredoo Kuwait’s Corporate Communicat­ions Senior Director Mijbil Alayoub reiterated Ooredoo’s commitment to supporting youth, as it is one of the most important segments in society. He added that the company is proud of endorsing athletes who play in both national and internatio­nal competitio­ns.
