Gulf University for Science and Technology (GUST) yesterday announced that it held its first official alumni reception yesterday, welcoming GUST Board of Trustees Chairman, GUST President, top management representatives, and over 100 alumni on its grounds. The aim of the event was for the university and its alumni to reconnect, reminisce, and build stronger ties. Chairman of the Board of Trustees, Professor Salem Marzouq Al-Tuhaih, said, “GUST is keen on taking care of its students even after graduation. It is important to keep lines of communication open, to better able to provide you with the right opportunities whether it is for jobs, or further academic growth. This is one of the main drives behind this event, to build those lines of communication and be able to benefit the university, and bring you further success.”

GUST alumni, Marina FM radio broadcaster, Ali Najim, and Ibrahim Al-Mutawa, took on the role of masters of ceremony at the reception; where alumni enjoyed an evening of socializing, music, photos, a raffle draw, and reconnecting with their former professors and university. The event officially introduced the Alumni Office, which caters to all alumni needs from organizing reunions to arranging benefits and services for alumni.

Moreover, it highlighted several university initiatives to strengthen its ties with its graduates, including hosting networking events such as the annual Career Fair, as well as the impending launch of the online recruitment platform, BEYOND, which aims to give students and alumni access to job opportunities in Kuwait across a variety of sectors in the form of internships, as well as full time and part time jobs, by connecting them with potential employers. The platform is free of charge to use for all concerned parties. The Chairman of the Board of Trustees, also noted: “The university strives on providing its graduates with the best academic programs, by recruiting world-class professors and working on obtaining the highest international accreditations.”

As of this year, GUST has graduated over 6,069 from its undergraduate and graduate programs combined. Since then, the university has attained four academic accreditations, including the AACSB-International accreditation for the College of Business Administration, the Commission on Intensive English Program Accreditation (CEA) for the English Foundation Program, the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET) for the computer science program, and most recently, the American Communications Association (ACA) accreditation for the Mass Communication and Media Department.

The graduate scholarship is a fully-funded program for GUST alumni to continue their masters and PhD degrees abroad in an accredited university. It is a prime opportunity for those interested in continuing their education. The university takes pride in its continuous strive to provide its students with a wellrounded education in order to flourish after graduation.
