KNES organizes fund raiser to support breast cancer research

-

Abake sale was organized by the student council of Kuwait National English School (KNES) on October 19, 2017 to raise awareness as well as funds for breast cancer research. The event was well organized and brilliantly executed by the student council and they were able to raise a fairly substantial amount. Students from primary and secondary actively participated and contributed in many ways to make it a runaway success. Students bought in a wide range of mouthwatering delicacies and they were sold out within minutes of the start of the Bake Sale. The highlight of the day was ‘The shaving the head’ event which was organized to raise awareness and empathy with cancer survivors.

Students had to vote for the member of staff they would want to have shaved and the winner of this interesting event was Mr Darryl, the school principal, who gamely agreed to have his head shaved. The head boy Bader Saab too joined in and it was an entertaining sight in the basketball court. Furthermore, the school was awash with pink ribbons as students supporting the fundraising event were given a pink ribbon to show their solidarity with cancer sufferers. Kuwait National English School’s mission statement encourages students “to act upon issues threatening our human family”. Cancer is an obvious threat to our human family and the funds raised will be donated towards the research of cancer.
