EQUATE cel­e­brates 20th an­niver­sary, new HQ in­au­gu­ra­tion

KUWAIT: EQUATE Group, a global pro­ducer of petro­chem­i­cals, hosted a cer­e­mony to cel­e­brate its 20-year an­niver­sary and the of­fi­cial in­au­gu­ra­tion of its new head­quar­ters, which is lo­cated in Ah­madi, Kuwait.

With the at­ten­dance of sev­eral dig­ni­taries, the cel­e­bra­tion was held to co­in­cide with the of­fi­cial in­au­gu­ra­tion of EQUATE Petro­chem­i­cal Com­pany on Novem­ber 12, 1997 un­der the pa­tron­age of the late Amir of Kuwait Sheikh Jaber Al-Ah­mad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah.

The cel­e­bra­tion, which was ti­tled ‘The Shape of Things to Come,’ hosted Kuwait’s Min­is­ter of Oil and Min­is­ter of Elec­tric­ity and Wa­ter Es­sam AlMar­zouq, the Gover­nor of Ah­madi Sheikh Fawaz Al-Khaled Al-Ha­mad Al-Sabah, Deputy Chair­man and CEO Kuwait Pe­tro­leum Cor­po­ra­tion of (KPC) Nizar Al-Ad­sani, former and cur­rent mem­bers of EQUATE’s board, as well as sev­eral other dis­tin­guished guests from Kuwait and around the globe.

Sheikh Fawaz said: “It was my ut­most plea­sure and pride to par­tic­i­pate in cel­e­brat­ing the 20th an­niver­sary and in­au­gu­rat­ing the new EQUATE head­quar­ters in Ah­madi with the Min­is­ter of Oil and Min­is­ter of Elec­tric­ity and Wa­ter Es­sam Al-Mar­zooq, KPC CEO Nizar Al-Ad­sani, and EQUATE Pres­i­dent and CEO Mo­ham­mad Hu­sain. EQUATE is now part of the in­te­grated in­dus­trial and eco­nomic com­mu­nity lo­cated in Ah­madi Gover­norate, en­abling it to con­tinue its path of ex­cel­lence as the man­i­fes­ta­tion of Kuwait’s first in­ter­na­tional joint ven­ture in the petro­chem­i­cal sec­tor.” EQUATE’s Pres­i­dent and CEO Mo­ham­mad Hu­sain said, “This event is not only a cel­e­bra­tion of past achieve­ments. Rather it is part of EQUATE’s jour­ney to­wards the fu­ture based on trust, in­no­va­tion, sus­tain­abil­ity and con­tin­u­ous devel­op­ment. EQUATE’s achieve­ments have seen it progress from a lo­cal op­er­a­tor to a global pro­ducer of petro­chem­i­cals and the world’s se­cond largest pro­ducer of eth­yl­ene gly­col (EG). We look for­ward to con­tinue our achieve­ments as con­trib­u­tors to di­ver­si­fy­ing Kuwait’s econ­omy, part of the coun­try’s global petro­chem­i­cal arm and one of the world’s main in­dus­trial en­ter­prises.”

EQUATE’s new head­quar­ters is qual­i­fied to be cer­ti­fied in the Lead­er­ship in En­ergy and En­vi­ron­men­tal De­sign (LEED) pro­gram. It is de­signed, built and op­er­ated as a sus­tain­able build­ing that meets the most ad­vanced and eco-friendly uni­ver­sal stan­dards. With a land area of 16,500 square me­ters, the mod­ern de­sign in­cor­po­rates in­ter­na­tional stan­dards re­flec­tive of the Group’s con­tin­u­ous pur­suit of ex­cel­lence and re­li­a­bil­ity. The new build­ing’s ad­van­tages in­clude re­duc­ing wa­ter con­sump­tion by 20 per­cent, as well as so­lar pan­els to gen­er­ate 5-7 per­cent of elec­tri­cal use. The ground­break­ing of the head­quar­ters took place in 2015 un­der the pa­tron­age of the Gover­nor of Ah­madi. Ah­madi Gover­norate is a vi­tal in­dus­trial hub in­clud­ing ma­jor com­plexes and marine ports in Kuwait.
