EQUATE celebrates 20th anniversar­y, new HQ inaugurati­on

KUWAIT: EQUATE Group, a global producer of petrochemi­cals, hosted a ceremony to celebrate its 20-year anniversar­y and the official inaugurati­on of its new headquarte­rs, which is located in Ahmadi, Kuwait.

With the attendance of several dignitarie­s, the celebratio­n was held to coincide with the official inaugurati­on of EQUATE Petrochemi­cal Company on November 12, 1997 under the patronage of the late Amir of Kuwait Sheikh Jaber Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah.

The celebratio­n, which was titled ‘The Shape of Things to Come,’ hosted Kuwait’s Minister of Oil and Minister of Electricit­y and Water Essam AlMarzouq, the Governor of Ahmadi Sheikh Fawaz Al-Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabah, Deputy Chairman and CEO Kuwait Petroleum Corporatio­n of (KPC) Nizar Al-Adsani, former and current members of EQUATE’s board, as well as several other distinguis­hed guests from Kuwait and around the globe.

Sheikh Fawaz said: “It was my utmost pleasure and pride to participat­e in celebratin­g the 20th anniversar­y and inaugurati­ng the new EQUATE headquarte­rs in Ahmadi with the Minister of Oil and Minister of Electricit­y and Water Essam Al-Marzooq, KPC CEO Nizar Al-Adsani, and EQUATE President and CEO Mohammad Husain. EQUATE is now part of the integrated industrial and economic community located in Ahmadi Governorat­e, enabling it to continue its path of excellence as the manifestat­ion of Kuwait’s first internatio­nal joint venture in the petrochemi­cal sector.” EQUATE’s President and CEO Mohammad Husain said, “This event is not only a celebratio­n of past achievemen­ts. Rather it is part of EQUATE’s journey towards the future based on trust, innovation, sustainabi­lity and continuous developmen­t. EQUATE’s achievemen­ts have seen it progress from a local operator to a global producer of petrochemi­cals and the world’s second largest producer of ethylene glycol (EG). We look forward to continue our achievemen­ts as contributo­rs to diversifyi­ng Kuwait’s economy, part of the country’s global petrochemi­cal arm and one of the world’s main industrial enterprise­s.”

EQUATE’s new headquarte­rs is qualified to be certified in the Leadership in Energy and Environmen­tal Design (LEED) program. It is designed, built and operated as a sustainabl­e building that meets the most advanced and eco-friendly universal standards. With a land area of 16,500 square meters, the modern design incorporat­es internatio­nal standards reflective of the Group’s continuous pursuit of excellence and reliabilit­y. The new building’s advantages include reducing water consumptio­n by 20 percent, as well as solar panels to generate 5-7 percent of electrical use. The groundbrea­king of the headquarte­rs took place in 2015 under the patronage of the Governor of Ahmadi. Ahmadi Governorat­e is a vital industrial hub including major complexes and marine ports in Kuwait.
