Fake cop arrested in Farwaniya

KUWAIT: Police arrested an ex-convict who impersonat­ed a detective and pretended to issue traffic tickets to drivers, as officers found a stolen police ID, handcuffs and ticket books, in addition to promissory notes and a mixture of drugs on him. Patrol officers had grown suspicious of the man who appeared to be operating a checkpoint in Farwaniya while using a private car. They approached the man and then placed him under arrest after verifying his identity. The suspect was taken to the proper authoritie­s for further action.

Drug possession

Farwaniya police arrested a detective with possession of drugs. The man was pulled over for reckless driving, before police found out that he was driving under the influence of drugs. They checked his ID and discovered that he was a police detective, then searched his car and found drugs inside. The man was sent to Drugs Control General Department (DCGD). Separately, police arrested two men, Egyptian and Kuwaiti, for possession of hashish and drug abuse. Both were sent to DCGD.

Sexual harassment

A man was sent to Jleeb Al-Shuyoukh police station for sexual harassment. The man had tried to run when he was approached by police, but was apprehende­d and taken to the police station. The Egyptian man was not carrying an ID, but police were able to identify him through a fingerprin­t check, which revealed that he is wanted by authoritie­s on sexual harassment charges filed by a Filipina woman. He was taken to the relevant authoritie­s for legal action.

Fugitive caught

Capital police arrested a citizen who has been on the run for two years and wanted to serve two years in jail. The man resisted arrest and tried to escape before being brought under control.
