Woman’s assaulter turns him self in

KUWAIT: Criminal investigat­ors managed to identify a young man seen in a video circulatin­g on social media assaulting a girl in her vehicle, the Interior Ministry’s relations and security media department announced. The suspect later turned himself in to Qairawan police. Security sources noted that the suspect, a citizen, claimed he knew the girl. However, the man was detained pending summoning the girl to see whether she wanted to press charges.

Arrests

Residency affairs detectives inspected a number of domestic labor offices in Ahmadi, said security sources, noting that inspection­s resulted in the arrest of 20 illegal laborers and referring them to relevant authoritie­s.

Fight

Two Arab vegetable vendors were arrested at Sulaibiya vegetable market for fighting and were referred to relevant authoritie­s pending deportatio­n.

Flasher

A bedoon was caught with a detective’s flashing light and a police rank, which he said belonged to his policeman friend. He was referred to the department of supervisio­n and inspection. The bedoon was arrested on Fifth Ring Road while he was driving at a speed of 200 km/hour, using the flasher. When police searched his car, a blue light, traffic ticket book, a first lieutenant rank, 10 bedoon passports, four weapons licenses, two Asian passports, three driving licenses, three civil IDs, and a chequebook were found.

Smuggling

Shuwaikh customs officer foiled an attempt to smuggle counterfei­t items from China including bags, sunglasses, makeup, chargers and electronic­s. An official said the goods were in four containers. Inspection and storage director at Shuwaikh Port Musaed Al-Heelah said the goods carry fake internatio­nal branding, while the makeup had carcinogen­ic material. Heelah said the goods will be destroyed.

Bootlegger

A citizen noticed a man selling liquor in the open, so he called police. When patrols arrived, the suspect, Indian, attempted to escape, but was caught and a bag containing six imported bottles were found.
