Gulf Bank sponsors KIJJO for second year
KUWAIT: Gulf Bank is proud to reaffirm its sponsorship of the International Kuwait Jiu-Jitsu Open (KIJJO) for the 2017 edition. Running from 16-18 November at the Ice Skating Rink, Kuwait City, the Open will welcome Jiu-Jitsu talent and players of all belt levels to showcase their skills and athleticism on the mat.
After a successful 2016, which saw more than 300 athletes from over 20 countries compete in the Capital, KIJJO 2017 is set to bring three action-packed days the whole family can enjoy. Jiu-Jitsu players are recommended to get there early on Day 1 for the check-in and official rules briefing, before a Q&A session with the Kuwait International Jiu-Jitsu Open refereeing team. Day 2 of the event will see weigh-ins across the respective divisions as energy builds for the final day of the event. The Kuwait community will feel the energy straight from the mat on the final day of competition, as thrilling matches across the belt levels will take place to find the KIJJO 2017 champions.
Returning for the second year of sponsorship, Gulf Bank’s support of the KIJJO is a natural step as part of the leading bank’s commitment to supporting youth initiatives and its campaign of promoting health and fitness activities. Commenting on its continued support,
Khaled Al-Otaibi, Manager Corporate Communications at Gulf Bank, said: “We are proud to once again sponsor the International Kuwait Jiu-Jitsu Open. Following on from the success of last year’s edition, The Open is a wonderful opportunity for the Kuwaiti community to come together and support talented individuals who will go head-to-head with global players. The key teachings of the sport of Jiu-Jitsu, respect, self-awareness and determination, are skills that can help strengthen an individual and his/her society, and the championship helps encourage young people to explore the culture and excitement of the sport. “Kuwait is continuing to raise the bar in its international sport offerings, and we at Gulf Bank are thrilled to play a role in welcoming global elites and governing bodies of Jiu-Jitsu to a world-class event right here in the Capital. We are sure the three-day event will be full of energy, action and fun, and wish the best of luck to all the participants. We look forward to seeing you there.”
