Kai Winkler named GM to open Fairmont hotel in Turkey

ISTANBUL: Kai Winkler has been appointed as General Manager for Turkey’s first Fairmont Hotel, Fairmont Quasar Istanbul, opening in the first quarter of 2017.

A new icon for the vibrant Mecidiyekoy district, Fairmont Quasar sits at a crossroads in Istanbul - where eclectic neighborhood bazaars and colorful side streets meet modern shopping centers and commercial properties. Set on the site of the 1930’s Robert Mallet Stevens’ designed Art Deco liquor factory, Fairmont Quasar Istanbul will blend a sense of urban culture and industrial flair with the city’s storied traditions and a strong sense of placeKai Winkler joins Fairmont Quasar Istanbul as General Manager, bringing with him over 20 years of luxury hospitality experience in both resort and city hotels. A graduate of the Hotel Management Academy in Koblenz, Germany, Winkler holds a BA in Hotel Administration and an Executive MBA in Hospitality & Tourism from NEOMA Business School in Paris, France. Winkler has managed luxury five-star hotels in Germany, Austria, Czech Republic, Turkey and most recently in China where he was General Manager of Kempinski managed Phoenix Hotel Dalian.
