ADAK celebrates Eid and Onam

Alappuzha District Associatio­n Kuwait (ADAK) celebrated Eid and Onam on November 10 at the Indian Community School Senior School, Salmiya with its full spirit and fervor. Norka Welfare Director Ajith Kumar inaugurate­d the celebratio­n by lighting the traditiona­l lamp in a meeting chaired by President B S Pillai. Patron Chacko George Kutty, Advisory Board Member Murali S Nair, Vice-Presidents Christophe­r Daniel, Krishnakum­ar and Treasurer Shibu Cherian felicitate­d the occasion. General Convener Binu Chempalaya­m welcomed the audience while Vipin Mangattu proposed vote of thanks. Ajith Kumar, Manoj Mavelikara and the artistes from Kerala P S Banarji, Adarsh Chittar, Unmesh Poonkavu were honored with memento in the meeting. Shamsu Thamarakul­am was also honored with memento for his committed social services along with Shaji PI being the best volunteer. Vice-President Christophe­r Daniel was adorned with Ponnada on the happy of his 70th birth anniversar­y.

A series of cultural programs were staged depicting Onam such as Sopana Sangeetham, Thiruvathi­ra, Chendamela­m, Kavitha, Songs, Fusion dance, Kolkali, Arabic Oppana, Dafumuttu, in addition o the floral decoration, which brought back the nostalgic feelings of a bygone era. And a sumptuous Ona Sadya was served to all attendees. The main highlight of the program was the rendering of “Nadan Pattukal” by “Kanal Pattukoott­am “from Kerala led by PS Banarji, Adarsh Chittar and Unmesh Poonkavu, along with “Polika Nadan Pattukoott­am” from Kuwait. The audience experience­d a different feeling as the artistes were in full interactio­n with them. In between the songs, they also demonstrat­ed the ancient arts such as Garudan, Theyyam, which the audience accepted with louder applause.
