Amir to patronize Sheikh Salem Al-Ali Informatic­s Awards ceremony today

KUWAIT: His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah is set to patronize today the 17th edition of the Sheikh Salem Al-Ali Al-Sabah Informatic­s Awards ceremony. The event will be held at 10:30 am at Bayan Palace.

His Highness the Amir’s unconditio­nal support towards Sheikh Salem Al-Ali’s Informatic­s Award is a great incentive for the organizers of the events and participan­ts, said an official yesterday. Speaking to the press, Chairperso­n of the Award’s Board of Trustees Sheikha Aydah Salem Al-Ali Al-Sabah said that the 17th edition of the award adds to the success of the prestigiou­s event. The award had put Kuwait on the map of informatic­s both on the regional and internatio­nal levels, said Sheikha Aydah, affirming that the event had contribute­d to good reputation of Sheikh Salem Al-Ali.

In regards to today’s ceremony, Sheikha Aydah said that awards would be handed to local, regional, and internatio­nal government and private entities, which took part in this year’s event, adding that the Informatic­s Award will continue for years to come as a Kuwaiti contributi­on to the world of technology.

Students’ elections

In other news, His Highness the Amir received His Highness Sheikh Nasser Al-Mohammad Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah at Bayan Palace on yesterday. Meanwhile, His Highness the Crown Prince Sheikh Nawaf Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah met with the chairman and members of Kuwait University’s National Union of Kuwaiti Students, fresh off their victory in the university’s union elections. His Highness the Crown Prince urged the students to remain diligent in pursuit of academic glory, saying that education and knowledge are the cornerston­es of a developed nation. He assured them of the Kuwaiti leadership’s relentless support, wishing the students every success in their academic careers. The encounter was attended by the head of protocols at His Highness the Crown Prince’s Diwan Sheikh Mubarak Sabah Al-Salem Al-Sabah and the Diwan’s undersecre­tary for local affairs Sheikh Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah. His Highness the Crown Prince also met with His Highness Sheikh Nasser Al-Mohammad, as well as Minister of Education and Minister of Higher Education Dr Mohammad Al-Faris.

Premier meets diplomats Separately, His Highness the Prime Minister Sheikh Jaber Al-Mubarak Al-Hamad Al-Sabah received the newly appointed Ambassador­s of Vietnam, Oman, Britain and North Ireland, as well as Egypt. The meetings were attended by the Head of His Highness the Prime Minister’s Diwan Sheikha Etimad Khaled Al-Sabah. His Highness the Prime Minister also received head of the Public AntiCorrup­tion Authority Abdurrahma­n Al-Nimash, who presented to him a copy of the authority’s biannual report for 2016-2017.

In other news, His Highness the Amir sent a cable of condolence­s to Saudi King Salman Bin Abdulaziz Al-Saud, expressing deepest sympathy over the passing away of Princess Madawi bint Abdulaziz Al-Saud. His Highness the Crown Prince and His Highness the Prime Minister also sent similar cables.
