Ministry spreads safe camping awareness

KUWAIT: The Ministry of Interior’s (MOI) relations and security media department yesterday said that various security sectors had finished preparatio­ns for the camping season with the aim of maintainin­g security and fighting campers’ negative practices. In collaborat­ion with the civil defense, an awareness campaign will be launched in three phases at the northern camping areas in Jahra, southern camping areas in Ahmadi and in the central area.

Special lectures and seminars will be held for campers to enhance their security as well as environmen­tal awareness about precaution­s to be used to prevent campfires and maintain cleanlines­s. The department urged campers to avoid camping near military zones, oil facilities, high voltage power lines and near highways and to carry their civil IDs at all times, avoid leaving camps unguarded with their valuables inside, avoid reckless driving and leaving campfires on while sleeping. Campers were also urged to keep first aid

kits handy, avoid using shotguns to hunt birds, or the use of fireworks, while also preventing minors from driving.

Municipali­ty campaigns Farwaniya municipali­ty cleaning teams leader Mubarak Al-Khurainej said that 2,020 cubic meters of waste and 12 abandoned and scrap vehicles were removed from Jleeb Al-Shuyoukh, Sabah Al-Nasser, Abdullah Al-Mubarak and Dajeej. He added that 13,001 cubic meters of wastes and an abandoned vehicle were removed from Ferdous, Andalus and Ardhiya industrial area. In addition, 1,826 cubic meters of waste and five abandoned vehicles were removed from Farwaniya, Omariya, Rabiya, Ashbeliya and Rehab.
