Cabinet OKs sports legislatio­n

KUWAIT: The Kuwaiti cabinet yesterday approved a newly passed sports law aiming at revamping Kuwaiti sports and helping in lifting the internatio­nal on the country’s sports activities. This came during the cabinet’s customary weekly meeting held at Bayan Palace and chaired by His Highness the Prime Minister Sheikh Jaber Al-Mubarak Al-Hamad Al-Sabah.

The cabinet appreciate­d the National Assembly’s understand­ing of the significan­ce of the fresh sports law, and its effective contributi­on to taking this major step, Minister of State for Cabinet Affairs and Acting Informatio­n Minister Sheikh Mohammad Abdullah AlMubarak Al-Sabah said in a press statement following the meeting. The ministers hoped that the sports law would lead to developing Kuwaiti sports and lifting the internatio­nal suspension of Kuwaiti sports activities, he added. Meanwhile, the Kuwaiti ministers reviewed the final preparatio­ns and arrangemen­ts for the 38th GCC summit in Kuwait today, showing warm welcome of the participat­ing GCC leaders.

They wished that the summit would come up with the aspired outcomes that could fulfill the expectatio­ns and ambitions of the Gulf people, and reflect cooperatio­n in various areas. Finally, the cabinet mourned the death of Yacoub Yousef Al-Humaidi, rememberin­g his national contributi­ons and sincere efforts to serving the nation.
