KIB organizes awareness event for autism
KUWAIT: Kuwait International Bank (KIB) partnered up with Artspace art studio and cafe to organize a unique initiative at Commons Cafe, which aimed at raising awareness about autism and providing guidance on how to cope with the disorder. This initiative began several months ago at Artspace studios across different locations in Kuwait; where multiple art canvases were created with the intent of being combined to create the world’s longest canvas at a staggering 11.4 meters, which is set to be nominated for entry into the Guinness World Records within the next three months.
On this occasion, Manager of the Corporate Communications Unit at KIB, Nawaf Najia said: “KIB remains committed to participating in various events that share its mission of supporting awareness programs and social initiatives, particularly ones that focus on serving diverse segments of the local community. We believe that this initiative educates people, in addition to promoting awareness about those diagnosed with autism and their role as integral members of the community, shedding the light on the importance of accepting others’ differences. The initiative also focuses on the importance of true community inclusion and nurturing the abilities and talents of people with autism, given that every person in society possesses their own unique set of skills and can serve their country in their own individual way.”
This latest awareness initiative saw the participation of people of all different ages from across Kuwait, who all created their works of art on five meter pieces of canvas. All the participating art pieces will be combined to create the world’s longest artwork, which will then be submitted for entry into the Guinness Book of World Records. Najia further added that the initiative brought out a strong sense of collaboration and community amongst the participants, who all worked together in the hopes of achieving this record-breaking accomplishment, and demonstrating that real change can happen through the combined efforts and passion of members of the community.
