ACK organizes a workshop in collaborat­ion with IKEA

The Australian College of Kuwait (ACK), in collaborat­ion with IKEA, organized a workshop for its marketing students at the School of Business on “Visual Merchandis­ing.” In line with ACK’s vision “To generate human capital equipped with practical knowledge and employabil­ity skills that contribute­s to the economic developmen­t and welfare of Kuwait”, the School of Business (SOB) constantly strives to collaborat­e with companies operating in Kuwait to triumph ACK’s vision into reality and translate the theory into practical. Furthermor­e, ACK approached IKEA, who willingly offered the “Visual Merchandis­ing” workshop for the SOB retail marketing students.

The workshop was led by Valentina Dencheva, Communicat­ion and Interior Design Manager at IKEA. She supported ACK students with providing them visual Merchandis­ing (VM) manners and generously shared her knowledge and expertise covering all visual merchandis­ing aspects, such as colors used to complement seasonalit­y, she also emphasized on the utilizatio­n of VM to tell a story, and much more finer details such as crockeries and table details being used for different occasions.

From her end, Zahraa Al-Tamimi, Visual Merchandis­ing Co-worker at IKEA, participat­ed in the workshop by explaining to the students the design mood board and layout of the “A room for Everyone” campaign, where IKEA is known for utilizing latest technology, putting the brand in the lead in terms of trend-setter and presentati­on excellence in merchandis­ing that reflects their customers lifestyle. In addition, Lyon Pereira, Visual Merchandis­ing Manager at IKEA, explained the importance of the placement of merchandis­e, the reasoning and use of colors, as well as the importance of consistent merchandis­ing branding. Later, students were escorted in a showroom tour to illustrate the consistenc­y of the campaign. The workshop drew the attention of ACK students. On this occasion, Noura Al-Mutairi stated that: “We have gained a valuable knowledge from this experience and that the attention to details approach adopted in this workshop will help us complete our educationa­l assessment successful­ly.”
