ACK organizes a workshop in collaboration with IKEA
The Australian College of Kuwait (ACK), in collaboration with IKEA, organized a workshop for its marketing students at the School of Business on “Visual Merchandising.” In line with ACK’s vision “To generate human capital equipped with practical knowledge and employability skills that contributes to the economic development and welfare of Kuwait”, the School of Business (SOB) constantly strives to collaborate with companies operating in Kuwait to triumph ACK’s vision into reality and translate the theory into practical. Furthermore, ACK approached IKEA, who willingly offered the “Visual Merchandising” workshop for the SOB retail marketing students.
The workshop was led by Valentina Dencheva, Communication and Interior Design Manager at IKEA. She supported ACK students with providing them visual Merchandising (VM) manners and generously shared her knowledge and expertise covering all visual merchandising aspects, such as colors used to complement seasonality, she also emphasized on the utilization of VM to tell a story, and much more finer details such as crockeries and table details being used for different occasions.
From her end, Zahraa Al-Tamimi, Visual Merchandising Co-worker at IKEA, participated in the workshop by explaining to the students the design mood board and layout of the “A room for Everyone” campaign, where IKEA is known for utilizing latest technology, putting the brand in the lead in terms of trend-setter and presentation excellence in merchandising that reflects their customers lifestyle. In addition, Lyon Pereira, Visual Merchandising Manager at IKEA, explained the importance of the placement of merchandise, the reasoning and use of colors, as well as the importance of consistent merchandising branding. Later, students were escorted in a showroom tour to illustrate the consistency of the campaign. The workshop drew the attention of ACK students. On this occasion, Noura Al-Mutairi stated that: “We have gained a valuable knowledge from this experience and that the attention to details approach adopted in this workshop will help us complete our educational assessment successfully.”
