KUWAIT: Within the framework of its continuous support for young Kuwaitis and its deep belief in the importance of their financial education, Ahli United Bank (AUB) has recently hosted a group of female students from Bayan High School at the bank’s Head Office. This comes as part of AUB’s comprehensive program of educational activities designed to convey information to students in a simplified and interesting manner about banking operations. This visit also was intended to promote the students’ interest in banking alongside other preferred career choices.

The program started with an introductory tour for the students which included a visit to several departments of the bank with an explanation of the nature of business of each department. The students also had the opportunity to meet with AUB’s CEO, Richard Groves, who was delighted to host them in his office. He had an open discussion with them about the nature of banking business and enquired about their preferred of fields of specialization in their future studies and their career choices. Groves explained to the students the importance of the bank’s activities, including its more than 75-year history in Kuwait. He also emphasized that in choosing a university course or choice of career it is important to enjoy and be interested in what they do if they want to be successful and make a difference.

The visit ended with an interesting competition among the students to find out more about their aspirations and the banking services required by young people today. Being the customers of the future it is important to understand their needs so as to tailor new products and services. At the end, prizes were awarded to the winners of the competition and gifts were distributed to all of the students who expressed their happiness with this visit and thanked the bank for hosting them and giving them the opportunity to understand the various activities, banking services and the different types of work in the bank’s departments. Many of them also expressed their fascination with banking work.

Commenting on this visit, AUB CEO, Richard Groves, said: “We are keen to sponsor these initiatives giving students the opportunity to understand firsthand how a bank works and its vital role in the country’s economic development. Today’s students are our customers and employees of the future and it is important that we make ourselves accessible to both as a provider of service excellence and an employer of choice.” Groves added: “These visits are very much part of connecting with our community and I applaud and thank my colleagues who initiated and organized this student visit. I am sure it has made a lasting impression on both students and staff and I look forward to the next opportunity to host such a visit at Ahli United Bank.”
