-

Gulf University for Science and Technology (GUST) has worked closely with Kuwait Finance House (KFH), Global Investment House, and Ernst & Young (EY) to provide specialized programs with a well-defined scope of work to enhance students’ knowledge and experience. Starting this year, interns were selected for each company based on their qualifications and majors to match the requirements of the position. The internships provide an opportunity for students to receive practical hands-on experience in their field of study, and a chance to explore the industry first-hand.

In line with GUST’s corporate strategy, the University has built and maintained effective collaborations with many major companies and organizations in Kuwait across various sectors. The success of the internship program is evident in the continuous development of new training programs that add great value to our students, as well as the well as the number of students offered full-time positions following their internships at these companies.

GUST Chairman of the Board of Trustees, Professor Salem Marzouq Al-Tuhaih said, “We are continuously working on strategic plans to enhance our services and provide the best opportunities for our students. It is

by collaborating with leading companies in the country that we are successfully able to provide a multi-faceted internship program of high quality and value.”

Kuwait Finance House, GUST’s corporate career partner and one of the most prominent Islamic banks in the country, provides exceptional opportunities for students to immerse themselves into a structured corporate environment to develop their knowledge and skills according to their major. KFH specifically uses the internships as a gateway to future hires, which has helped push the Memorandum of Understanding with the university to a more solid level including scholarships. This year, a new agreement was signed to strengthen the relationship between the two entities and provide a framework of cooperation for training, internships, full-time and part-time jobs, sponsorships for campus activities. The agreement also gives qualified GUST graduates the priority when it comes to employment.

Kuwait Finance House Group Chief Human Resources Officer, Frederick Carstens, said: “KFH and GUST recognize each other as important organizations in the learning and development field. The bank encourages students and new recruits to be certified and highly qualified by providing them with all the tools they need to enable them to enjoy productive and satisfying careers.”

The second company, Global Investment House, is a world-renowned institution recognized for providing investment solutions, which provides students with a charged working environment and the opportunity to learn valuable skills on the industry and the impact it has locally and regionally. They will also enjoy working in a professional, corporate environment with renowned advisors, for a well-structured program. The program includes experience in learning about the details of the stock market, trading techniques, how to investigate and select portfolios, and other relevant topics. Global Investment House has a long-standing relationship with GUST dating back to 2006, which consists of participating in career fairs, providing workshops, offering internships to its students, and permanent hiring.

Global Investment House Acting Head of HR & Administration, Mohammad Abdullah Al-Wuhaib, said: “We offer an Internship program as part of our interest in future talent and our Corporate Social Responsibility initiatives. Through hands-on work exposure and on the job training, students will enjoy a supportive environment aimed at developing their knowledge of the business they can look forward to joining. Over the years, GUST students have demonstrated excellent skills backed-up by a high quality education and training.” And finally, Ernst & Young (EY), world leader in financial auditing and advisory services, has maintained a strong working relationship since their first participation in the university’s career fair. EY, one of the largest accounting firms in the world, provides in-depth experience for our students studying that field through job opportunities and training.
