AIP honors meritorious students
Association of Indian Professionals (AIP), Kuwait organized a grand function on December 29, 2017, at the auditorium of Salmiya Indian Model School (SIMS), Salmiya in order to felicitate the meritorious Indian students of class XII. Awardees were selected based on the CBSE examination results declared for the academic year 2016 - 2017, from all Indian Schools in Kuwait which are affiliated to the CBSE system of education of India. Gold/silver medals and certificate of merit were presented to the students who scored highest and second highest aggregates in science and commerce streams. Silver medals with certificates were presented to the students who scored 100 percent marks in any subject. Bronze medals and certificates were dispersed to those awardees who scored an aggregate of 90 percent or above. Indian Embassy Second Secretary Yashwant Chatpalliwar was the chief guest while Harpreet Singh Sethi on behalf of Kuldeep Singh Lamba, S K Wadhawan, Rajpal Tyagi, Ashok Kumar Angural, Rajesh Nair — Principal of Indian Community School, Amman Branch; K Gangadhar Shirsath - Principal of Indian Community School Khaitan and Dr Rubina Ali Chougle, Obstetrics and Gynaecology Consultant and an IVF Specialist at Al-Seef Hospital were the guests of honor.
AIP General Secretary Dr Kamlesh Kumari welcomed the guests and audience. She highlighted that the AIP Awards have now become a symbol of excellence. Dr Kamlesh Kumari extended her appreciation and thanks to all principals of Indian Schools in Kuwait who provided official information which facilitated the final selection of meritorious awardees. AIP Chairman Umesh Sharna stressed the need of the education and motivation of the younger generation for the multidimensional development of the society. Education and only education can bring peace and prosperity to this world, he stated. Chatpalliwar appreciated the efforts of AIP for promoting Indian students through motivation, exposure and career guidance programs. He specifically mentioned that although, meritorious students in Kuwait are usually separately honored on different community and on school level basis, AIP award function is the one and only event where meritorious Indian students from all Indian schools in Kuwait are jointly honored at a single occasion. Chatpalliwar congratulated awardees and advised all students to pursue their career of their own choice.
A colorful souvenir which included awardees’ photographs and depicting AIP’s vision and mission was released by the Chief Guest, Guests of honor and executive committee members of AIP. Indian Educational School (Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan) was adjudged as the winner of ‘AIP Best Academic Performance Award’ for class XII of year 2016-17 and Fahaheel Al-Watanieh Indian Private School-FAIPS (DPS) as the runners up. Best performing schools are selected on the weighted average method. Rolling trophies and mementos were presented to these schools by Chatpalliwar and Sharma.
Chatpalliwar, Harpreet Singh Sethi, Wadhawan, Rajpal Tyagi, Ashok Kumar Angural, Rajesh Nair, K. Gangadhar Shirsath, Dr Rubina Ali Chougle, Umesh Sharma, Dr Kamlesh Kumari, Sajeev K. Peter, and AR Subbaraman distributed medals, certificates, rolling trophies and mementos. Deepti Ravi Kumar, Leander George, Jessica Henry Serrao, Muqlis Moiz, Riya George, Moses Reji Chandy, Clifton George Samuel, Rithikha Raghupathy, Simran Kaur, Jonathan Mahesh Najare, Afrah Rafi, Jitesh Seshan compered the awards distribution ceremony in an excellent manner. The gifts were presented to the anchors. Vote of thanks was delivered by Sajeev K Peter.
