Cabinet applauds Gulf Cup organizers
KUWAIT: The Kuwaiti cabinet yesterday highly commended the great efforts of the organizing committee of the recent 23rd Arabian Gulf Cup. During a weekly meeting held at Seif Palace and presided over by His Highness the Prime Minister Sheikh Jaber Al-Mubarak Al-Hamad Al-Sabah, the cabinet appreciated the performance of all participating Gulf football teams. The key role of workers and volunteers in gearing up for, and organizing, this successful Gulf football championship, was also lauded during the cabinet’s meeting.
In a related issue, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of State for Cabinet Affairs and Chairman of the Organizing Committee Anas Al-Saleh, and the minister of commerce and industry and of state for youth affairs, and the minister of health affairs gave briefings on the circumstances of the accident at Jaber Al-Ahmad Stadium following the OmanUAE final.
The accident, which was triggered off by a glass barrier collapse, left a number of Omani fans injured. They were immediately taken to nearby hospitals for necessary medical treatment. However, the cabinet did not forget to voice heartfelt and sincere congratulations to Omani Sultan Qaboos bin Said and all Omani people on their national football team’s win of the Gulf sports event.
The Kuwaiti ministers underscored that this sports gathering embodied bonds of amity and solidarity as well as fair competition, wishing all Gulf people continued progress and welfare. They also congratulated His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad AlJaber Al-Sabah, His Highness the Crown Prince Sheikh Nawaf Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah and the Kuwaiti people on the successful tournament, held in Kuwait between December 22 and January 5. Finally, the cabinet reflected on an array of crucial subjects and matters on the agenda of the National Assembly’s, along with the latest Arab and international developments. —KUNA
