-

KUWAIT: The National Assembly appointed MP Nasser Al-Dosari as member of the parliamentary foreign affairs committee, replacing MP Ali AlDeqbasi who has resigned from the committee. The assembly also appointed MP Talal Al-Jalal as member of the public utilities committee, replacing MP Mohammad Al-Hadiya, during its session yesterday. The assembly had accepted the resignation of Al-Deqbasi and AlHadiya during its session on 19 December. Separately, the parliament turned down a request by the Public Prosecution to strip MP Safaa AlHashem of her parliamentary immunity, regarding case (No. 2017/3303) ‘municipal misdemeanor.’ The MPs discussed during the session a report by the legislative and legal affairs committee concerning the case.

Meanwhile, parliament members expressed their gratitude to His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad AlJaber Al-Sabah and His Highness the Crown Prince Sheikh Nawaf Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah and the Government of Kuwait for hosting the 38th GCC Summit, the 23rd Arabian Gulf Cup and the 11th meeting of heads of the GCC parliaments and Shura councils.

This came during the session in which they reviewed letters received by His Highness the Amir and His Highness the Crown Prince. Among the letters reviewed by the parliament was one by His Highness the Amir thanking the Speaker and members of the National Assembly for their congratulations on Kuwait’s membership in the UN Security Council for 2018 and 2019 and the new year.

The parliament also reviewed a cable from His Highness the Amir thanking the heads and representatives of the GCC Shura and National Assemblies for their congratulations and appreciation for Kuwait’s hosting of the 11th conference for GCC heads of parliaments. The parliament also reviewed a letter from His Highness the Crown Prince, in which he thanked speaker and members of the National Assembly for their congratulations on the occasion of Kuwait’s membership in the UN Security Council for 2018 and 2019 and the new year. The MPs praised the great role played by His Highness the Amir in re-uniting Gulf states and all those who raised high the name of Kuwait and drew attention to it being a peace-loving country and a hub for humanitarian work. — KUNA
