KRCS celebrates 52nd anniversary of humanitarian work
KUWAIT: Kuwait Red Crescent Society (KRCS) celebrates its 52th anniversary today by seeking to be a pioneer in humanitarian field in Kuwait and the Arab World. KRCS Chairman Dr Hilal Al-Sayer said yesterday the society since its foundation in 1966 granted Kuwait an international pioneering position in humanitarian domain exceeding all expectations thanks to the great support by His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah.
Sayer added that the KRCS has been offering humanitarian relief for people in need all over the world. KRCS relief supplies in 2017 covered countries such as Libya, Palestine, Somalia, Yemen, Iraq, Syria, the Philippines and Sri Lanka as well as to the Rohingya minority, he said. On the local level, the society paid the school fees for 5,000 children in need, Sayer noted.

General Saleh Al-Suhaibani hailed Kuwait’s humanitarian role on both regional and international levels. Suhaibani’s remarks were made yesterday during the visit of KRCS Secretary General Maha Al-Barjas to the organization’s headquarters in Riyadh,
Society paid school fees for 5,000 children
Saudi Arabia. Barjas’ visit and meeting with President of Saudi Red Crescent Authority Mohammed Al-Qasim aims to boost communications between red crescent societies in humanitarian and rescue missions, he said.
Suhaibani added that the organization is exerting great efforts to create coordination between Arab red crescent and cross societies to provide immediate donations and aid to those in need in the Arab World. Arab humanitarian work has expanded to cover millions of people, with the continuous presence of donor countries, especially Saudi Arabia and Kuwait, he said. The organization, established in 1965, has the task of supporting development programs, boost media in the humanitarian field, coordinate rescue operations between Arab societies and organize training courses in the field. —KUNA
