Gulf Bank hails successful MGRP career fair, signs 36 new employees
Employment ceremony held at the bank’s headquarters
KUWAIT: Gulf Bank congratulates Kuwait’s Manpower and Government Restructuring Program (MGRP) for its tremendous efforts to increase youth employment in the private sector. The bank strongly supports and is proud to be a partner in MGRP’s Recruitment Screening Program; it is a partnership designed to hire and empower Kuwaitis seeking employment in the banking sector.
Earlier this month, Gulf Bank participated, as a gold sponsor, in MGRP’s Career Fair and was impressed with the enthusiasm of attendees seeking employment. Speaking on the turnout and demand from qualified candidates, Salma Al-Hajjaj, General Manager for Human Resources at Gulf Bank said: “The MGRP Career Fair was a unique opportunity to engage with Kuwaiti youth and the level of interest in careers in the private sector was remarkable. It was heartening to see our youth not only looking to find employment, but seeking to build longterm careers for themselves. It is just this type of enthusiasm and focused determination that the bank looks for in its new hires.”
Following the Career Fair, the bank accepted 36 qualified candidates, and held a signing ceremony at its headquarters to welcome them to the bank. The bank was pleased to have Bandar Al-Rashed, Assistant General Secretary of MGRP, and Naderah Al-Houmoud, Manager, Recruitment Department at MGRP, present at the employment signing ceremony.
Commenting on the new hire signing ceremony, Hajjaj said: “Both Gulf Bank and MGRP are committed to boosting employment in the private sector to support our country’s economic development. This partnership has been of great benefit to both parties, but most importantly it has led to our youth finding employment. We thank Rashed and Houmoud of MGRP for being with us at the signing ceremony. At the bank, we have a well-rounded program named Ajyal which seeks identify high potential new employees and nature them to prepare them for future leadership positions, we hope to see some of these new hires in this program soon.”
In 2017, Gulf Bank was awarded the ‘Best Training Plan 2016’ from the MGRP, which is a testimony to the bank’s commitment and dedication to support Kuwait’s youth. Gulf Bank has successfully implemented several initiatives over the past years, such as external training programs held in collaboration with the MGRP and its long-term sponsorship of INJAZ Kuwait offering professional skills and entrepreneurial training for high school and university students. The bank is particularly pleased with the popularity and effectiveness of its internal Ajyal Graduate Development Program nurturing young Kuwaiti talent early in the career, aiming to develop them into ‘holistic bankers’ and prepare them for leadership positions at Gulf Bank and in our country. Furthermore, the bank also offers an internal learning and development program, which includes a wide range of trainings and courses for employees across all ranks and departments.
