Dasman School holds annual art exhibition

The Dasman Bilinguali­sm School held its annual art exhibition yesterday, where students from all educationa­l grades participat­ed, in addition to students of special needs. It was held in the presence of the CEO Adel Jassem Al-Sane. In his opening speech, Assistant Secretary-General for the Arts Sector at National Council for Culture, Arts and Letters Badr AlDaweesh, said that the council is supporting such cultural art events which helps students to develop their creativity. He went on to thank Dasman School for the invitation and giving the opportunit­y to see the work of young artists.

For his part, Al-Sane pointed out that the exhibition is the first of its kind where it includes individual works as well as joint works from groups of students. He added that the purpose of the exhibition is to highlight the art and painting in addition to strengthen­ing the local culture and creativity within students. He explained that the students drew plates in addition to clay models with the help of teachers and with the support of the school administra­tion.

Samar Dizmen, Superinten­dent of Dasman School, said that the school is the only school in Kuwait that gathers students and people with special needs in one completed building, adding that the exhibition reflects the diversity of the school and individual­ity of each student as well as highlighti­ng the artistic talents of students. Abdulkarim Al-Enzi, artist, affirmed “the exhibition amazed me by how the variety and kinds of art the students used. The live art made me more connected to colors, artist and the paintings. I see a huge amount of excellent work from students of all ages along with special needs students.”

For her part, Svitlana Arndt, artist, said “we can see the children that showed real skills. The teachers were able to let those students to enjoy the art and know a lot about it, they even studied the small details from famous artists. The atmosphere amongst the teachers and students were great to see.” This year, the art exhibition included musical and visual art where two musical shows were performed by primary students. The three days art exhibition will be open from 5 pm to 8 pm.
